The Fight for Our Heroes' Families Just Got Harder — But We're Not Backing Down

Service-connected infertility hits our veterans and first responders hard: blasts, toxins, stress — yet when they come home ready to start families, the system fails them again.

He’s a veteran and career first responder who spent decades running into danger so the rest of us could stay safe.

Service gave him post-traumatic epilepsy with drop attacks — the kind that can hit without warning and send him to the ground. A regular bike is now a serious risk; one seizure mid-ride could mean a catastrophic fall.

With service-connected back and hip damage. Upright bikes cause crippling pain after just minutes, and long walks aren’t an option either. The hardest part? He has to keep telling his kids “not today” when they beg him to go riding together. That silence hurts worse than any injury he took on the job.

The solution OWS is working to provide: The ICE Adventure HD recumbent trike.

Active-Duty Women: 37–40% report trouble conceiving or carrying a pregnancy

Female Firefighters: Miscarriage rate >2× higher — a red flag for underlying infertility
