This week, Rotary Club Zephyrhills was pleased to welcome Zephyrhills Police Department Chief Derek Brewer and CHIPZ Director/Case Manager Bonnie Pacheco for an informative presentation on the important work taking place through the Community Hope and Intervention Project of Zephyrhills (CHIPZ).

During the presentation, our Rotary members learned how CHIPZ works alongside the ZPD and community partners to connect individuals and families with critical resources and services related to homelessness, mental health challenges, substance addiction, emergency assistance, and sustainable housing. 🏠🤝🚔

CHIPZ serves as a centralized connection point for vulnerable residents in need while helping expand access to housing, support programs, and community-based services throughout Zephyrhills and the surrounding area.

Thank you to Chief Brewer and Bonnie Pacheco for sharing how collaboration and community partnerships are helping make a positive impact in Zephyrhills. 👏

🎷 One of our favorite annual traditions returned this week as we welcomed the award-winning Zephyrhills High School Jazz Band for a special lunchtime performance at Zephyrhills City Hall!

Rotary Club Zephyrhills members and City of Zephyrhills - Government employees enjoyed lunch together while these talented ZHS musicians filled the room with an outstanding showcase. 🎶

Patterned in the classic Big-Band style, the ZHS Jazz Ensemble performs at numerous local events and participates in the Florida Bandmasters Association Jazz Evaluation. The group has also earned invitations to perform at destinations and events including Disney World, Universal Studios, and the Lakeside Jazz Festival in Daytona.

A special thank you to ZHS music/band teacher Michael Schmidt for his leadership and commitment to music education, as well as the students who represented ZHS so well during today’s performance.

Our is proud to support local schools, students, and youth programs throughout our community, and events like this are a great reminder of the incredible talent found in Z-Hills. 👏

Thank you to Joel Bacon, Public Safety Inspector for the City of Zephyrhills - Government, for being our guest speaker at this week's Rotary Club Zephyrhills meeting!

Joel gave us great insight into the role of Code Enforcement in our community, focusing on how it helps protect the health, welfare, and safety of residents and businesses through voluntary compliance.

He walked us through important topics such as:
✔️ Local sign regulations
✔️ Landscaping and right-of-way maintenance
✔️ Abandoned shopping carts and donation bin rules
✔️ Clear sight triangle requirements for intersections
✔️ The importance of permits to prevent unpermitted work

We’re grateful for his time and for sharing how Code Enforcement works hand-in-hand with residents and businesses to keep our town safe and thriving. 👏

Thank you to Moises Guadarrama for joining us as our guest speaker at this week's Rotary Club Zephyrhills meeting and sharing the incredible work of the Its A Start organization! 🌟

🎓📚✏️ It’s A Start is an organization devoted to promoting equity and providing opportunities where they are not currently abundant. The organization has provided over $7,000 in higher education scholarships to local students who excel academically, show empathy, and give back to their community.

It’s A Start also leads efforts to close the educational gap by providing area youth with tutoring, mentorships, and other resources from community leaders and fellow scholars.
