Meet Tom, a wild turkey we met at a yard in Norton Shores this morning. ๐Ÿฆƒ

Tom was having himself some breakfast when we showed up to spray our Compost Tea.

Wild visitors like Tom don't read "Caution" signs. They don't know to stay off the lawn for 24-48 hours after a synthetic chemical treatment. They just walk, forage and live their lives right on top of whatever you've put down. The robin pulling worms from your soil doesn't know either. Neither do the bees on your clover.

Conventional lawn treatments can leave behind residues harmful to birds, insects and other wildlife long after they've dried. Our organic treatments are safe for your soil, your family and guys like Tom. There's no toxic runoff, no chemical residue, just a healthier lawn the whole ecosystem can enjoy.

At one point, almost half of the states in the US, including Michigan, were home to the rusty-patched bumblebee. Now only a bakers-dozen of states have recorded sightings of it in the past quarter century, and Michigan is no longer one of them. One of the main causes of this pollinator decline is the chemicals we continue to dump on our lawns year after year.

Now efforts from states, the federal government and organizations like Good Sweet Earth are working to create spaces where the rusty-patched bumblebee can find safe haven again, and hopefully welcome them back to places like Michigan, Illinois and West Virginia.

The bee was once found in roughly half of the U.S. Now, rare sightings have been limited to about a dozen states.

Wrapping up the month of May spraying lawns and landscapes in Holland and along the always-scenic Lake Macatawa. ๐Ÿ›ฅ๏ธ

Lake Macatawa has battled decades of agricultural runoff and phosphorus overload, and it was once ranked among Michigan's most polluted lakes. Since the early '10s, Project Clarity has helped cut phosphorus by 62% and keeps 46,000 tons of sediment out annually. Every lawn we treat organically in the vicinity of Lake Mac is one less source of chemical runoff into this watershed. Yard by yard, bit by bit, progress happens! ๐ŸŒž

Today we're in Grand Rapids, EGR and Ada, spraying lawns with our organic Worm Compost Tea and delivering bags of our Alfalfa Blend Lawn Fertilizer.

Let's talk clover for a minute. โ˜˜๏ธ Here's a lawn that's probably 20-30% Dutch white clover. You know what the neighbors see? A thick, healthy lawn that stays green all summer. It doesn't look messy, w**dy or out-of-place in this tidy little neighborhood. You have to be right on top of it to see that there's actually clover in it.

Spraying lawns in Hudsonville, Grandville and Wyoming today!

Did you know that leaving your grass clippings on your lawn is an important source of nitrogen for your lawn? It can provide up to 1/3 of the nitrogen your turfgrass needs for the entire season! Plus, it's a great way to add organic matter to your soil and boost microbial activity. Even if you don't have a mulching mower, take the bag off and let the clippings stay. And no, this doesn't cause thatch. They're also a great food source for the microbes in the Tea we spray on lawns.

Happy Friday! We started our day in Rockford this morning and made our way down to Kentwood and Byron Center.

When we're at a house, we're not just spraying turf and landscaping, we're spraying soil. Sometimes bare soil. Why? Because for things (like grass) to thrive, soil needs to be alive. ๐Ÿฆ

Our Compost Tea has microbesโ€” bacteria, fungiโ€” that are the heart and soul of a healthy yard. They break down organic matter into nutrients your plants can actually use. They improve soil structure so water penetrates instead of running off. They compete with pathogens and help suppress disease. When your soil is alive, it helps things grow better and stronger, growing healthy lawns and amazing landscapes!

So if you think about it, we're as much a soil company as we are a lawn company.

Today in Grand Rapids, we're spraying lawns AND the landscaping plants, gardens and potted plants at each house we visit.

Cuz here's the thing about biodiversity: it's NOT weakness in your yard, it's an asset. When we treat your turf, we're treating your whole outdoor space. That clover that's fixing nitrogen in your lawn? The pollinator-friendly wildflowers in your beds? The beneficial insects living in your mulch? They all work together to create a healthier, more resilient yard. ๐ŸŒฑโ˜˜๏ธ๐ŸŒป๐Ÿฆ‹๐Ÿชฑ๐Ÿฆ

An organic lawn isn't just about the grass. It's about building an ecosystem where everything thrives.

Want to manage w**ds in your landscape without hurting pollinators ๐Ÿ or the planet ๐ŸŒŽ? We have some options outlined in our latest from The Rapidian.

Synthetic chemical w**d killers hurt bees and butterflies, and they kill flowers they need for food. There are alternatives that can actually help.
