A state of emergency has been declared for North Carolina and it looks like Ashton Glen could be in the path of some of the foul weather Hurricane Florence is bringing. We hope everyone has been able to do some prep work to get ready. We wanted to mention a few things that are important to our neighborhood.
1. Water - Our water sources are our wells, and without power they will not be able to bring fresh water into our homes. Please stock up on drinking water and fill up some buckets or jugs so that you can flush your toilets.
2. Power - Unfortunately our neighborhood is probably low on the list for power restoration, we should plan to be without power for multiple days. Have plenty of batteries and flashlights on hand.
3. Outdoor items - Please secure ALL outdoor items! Items like furniture, grills, bird houses and potted plants can be turned into missiles in high winds. Please bring all of these items inside and secure them, Portable basketball goals can also be tossed around in high winds so please bring them inside.
4. Warnings and updates - Please heed all warnings and recommendations provided by emergency services! Remain inside until it is safe to venture out. Keep in mind that hurricanes have an eye, where it will appear calm passing over but more winds will follow. Be mindful of flooding on the roads.
5. Stay safe! We hope everyone is safe and secure. Please reach out on the page with updates and questions! If you need assistance with prepping don't hesitate to ask for help!
