There is often a strong focus on men’s physical health — fitness, annual checkups, and heart health — but mental well-being is equally as important because mental health is health!

Just as the body needs care and attention, so does emotional and mental well-being. Yet, there is a silent crisis in men’s mental health — one that too often goes unnoticed or unspoken. Men are nearly four times more likely to die by su***de than women*, underscoring the urgent need to break this silence and seek support.

Small steps to care for mental health can lead to significant change. Let’s build a culture where men feel safe speaking up and reaching out. As a community, we can break the stigma, support one another, and ensure no one struggles in silence.

On average, a teenager is exposed to nearly eighty-five drug references a day, either in movies, television, advertisements, and yes, social media. Social media especially plays a significant role in shaping adolescent behavior, including attitudes toward substance use. With millions of teens actively engaging on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat, social media is a major avenue for social interaction and influence. While these platforms can contribute to increased exposure and normalization of substance use, some users and organizations are taking advantage of the platform to spread messages of prevention and education.

About 178,000 people die from excessive drinking each year. That’s
488 deaths per day, making alcohol a leading cause of preventable
death in the United States. To save lives, communities can use effective strategies like regulating the number of stores that sell alcohol, updating alcohol taxes, and limiting the number of hours alcohol is sold.

States that implement policies to reduce alcohol availability, affordability, and advertising can reduce the number of people who die from excessive alcohol use.
