This morning, I made a stop at the monument to Father Corby while I was out on the Gettysburg battlefield listening for turkeys. Every once in awhile, you all get a little of my personality along with the history. So sometimes I may talk about hunting or steaks or music or whatever. And sometimes, my Christian faith bleeds through.
A little while back, I had someone send me a rather strongly worded message that they were done with my channel because they didn’t need any religion with their history. I found that to be curious. Even if you are an atheist, you can’t deny how elements of faith are interwoven into the fabric of history. You don’t have to believe it, but to say that history and religion are completely divorced from one another is kind of wild. The statue of Father Corby is a good reminder of that.
I hope that people know that my faith doesn’t prevent anyone from enjoying the channel and learning from it. Some of my best friends are atheists. I have some close friends who are vegan or who listen to music that I hate or who think that beans for breakfast is perfectly acceptable. None of the disagreements that I have with these people are barriers that prevent me from enjoying their company or learning from them. On the contrary, the relationships that I have with them has enriched my life in countless ways.
With all of that being said, today is Good Friday where Christians around the world are remembering the crucifixion of Christ. So I’ll leave you with one of my favorite verses from the Bible that encapsulates the meaning of this day.
"God made him who knew no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Corinthians 5:21)
