Hunter Lepi (vocals/guitar/harmonica) and Jeff Shaffer (drums/percussion) were 11 years old when they first shared a stage together. Throughout middle and high school, they played together in multiple bands. Despite going to different colleges, the two still remained great friends often picking up where they left off in their musical endeavors. Beginning in 2017, Hunter Lepi released three albums in as many years — Gifts From the Edge (2017), Come Along (2018), & Boat (2019). Again, Jeff was no stranger to this production; tracking drums and percussion for all three albums. In the years to come, Jeff would find himself immersed in the music scenes of the Pacific Northwest. While performing with multiple bands, the Weapon on drums was able to record and release a full-length studio album in 2024 (Back At My House by ZORB). Simultaneously, in Denver, CO, Hunter took to the Mile High music scene. Becoming obsessed with improving his own musicality, songwriting, and style, he covered a great deal of ground in a short amount of time. This led to Live at the Roxy (2023), an album of songs and stories carefully selected to highlight the fruits of his labor throughout the past four years.
Just as the story has always been, Hunter and Jeff are back. On December 16, 2023, HUNTER LEPI & THE WEAPON opened for a hot, up-and-coming Americana quartet named BUFFALO WABS & THE PRICE HILL HUSTLE at Woodlands Tavern in Columbus, OH – their first time gracing a stage together in many long years. But, that is not where the story ends. In fact, it continues Saturday, April 20, 2024 at ‘Shimmer of the Night’ – Bishop Rosecrans High School’s annual dinner and fundraiser! Attendees can expect hearty and healthy doses of both smooth-lipped intimacy combined with a dynamism of power and energy where one can’t help but rock and run wild.
