Youth in small towns and rural areas all too often assume they have limited options and opportunities. GY2KC will strive to break down those assumed barriers to success and fulfillment by designing and offering programs aimed at:
• Helping youth identify their talents, skills, goals and dreams by collaborating with existing community-based organizations to maximize resources.
• Operating communit
y-based programs (both volunteer and paid) that gives participants valuable insight and experience for future choices and career development.
• Nurturing and developing leadership skills by improving self-confidence. In so doing, GY2KC will contribute to developing the entire community both in the short term and for many years to come. GY2KC has developed the following programs:
• Computer Literacy
• Career Development & Entrepreneurship, designed to make youth aware of various paths to future success and independence including college, technical schools, apprenticeships, business development, etc.
• Tutoring and academic counseling.
• Community-based Internships and on-the-job learning opportunities
• Recreation and Entertainment events that promote physical activity and healthy life styles.
• Arts and Music awareness activities.
• Health Promotion/Disease Prevention through healthy lifestyle choices.
• Graphic and Performing Arts
Funding Support:
GY2KC will be financially supported by a combination of funding sources such as but not limited to: monetary donations from local businesses, organizations and individuals; in-kind support from local non-for-profit organizations; as well as grants awards from state and national public and private organizations.
