Our Story

Right Turn for Yuma Veterans is a long-term, transitional housing program for homeless or at-risk of being homeless veterans under the Child & Family Services of Yuma, Inc. organization, which has been serving Yuma and the surrounding communities since 1979. Since 2014, Right Turn for Yuma Veterans has been providing up to six male homeless or at-risk of being homeless veterans with not just a roof over their head, but the support system necessary to live independently within their community. Right Turn focuses on the individual needs and goals of each unique veteran. We provide mental health counseling, case coordination, transportation, and life coaching in the areas of healthy living and financial planning, as well as job seeking skills. With the Right Turn for Yuma Veterans Program, veterans are able to identify and address the problems they must resolve in order to become an independent and contributing member of society once again.

Since the start of the program in July 2014, we have had 56 veterans come through the program with an average stay of 8-11 months. We are a community based program and rely heavily on community support, fundraising, and individual donor contributions. Most of our veterans come to us with little or no means of support, so it is vital that we have the funds available to help them with food, clothing and shelter until they are able to do so themselves. If you, or someone you know, is able to help in any way, please contact us. Your contributions to this program will not only help to get our homeless veterans off the street, but allow them the opportunity to have a successful and promising future.

Help us continue to fight for those that fought for us!!
