The Moirs advised they are a 501 (c) (3) that was started by Morrill Worcester in 1992. Their Mission:
Remember, Honor, Teach.
Remember the fallen.
Honor those who serve.
Teach the next generation the value of freedom.
Mr. Worchester was a wreath maker, and in 1992 his journey began...
He started in Arlington with his leftover wreaths at the end of that holiday season. His project grew with the assistance from former Maine Senitor Olympia Snowe. Shortly thereafter other individuals and organizations began to join them. Including but not limited to: Blue Bird Ranch, local American Legion and V.F.W. posts, community members, members of Maine State Society of WA, D.C.
Once a photo of the Stones at Arlington was seen with wreaths on the grave stones covered in snow was circulated on the web in 2005...they received national attention. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Requests from all over poured in with people wanting to help.
Mr. Worcester began to send 7 wreaths to each state, one for each military branch and one for P.O.W./M.I.A.
Last year 3.1 million wreaths were placed across America at 5,594 participating locations!!!
Millions of volunteers helped place each wreath, 1/3 were children.
This was 727 truckloads & 45 intermodal loads that wete delivered around the country. That means over 1,200 volunteer professional truck drivers driving donated equipment and fuel from approximately 325 trucking companies pitched in. WOW!
The wreaths are beautiful, fragrant wreaths still coming from Maine.
There were 760 Wreaths provided here in Yuma that were placed on grave stones at Sun Set Vista last year.
Volunteers are always needed to place the wreaths & remove them each year.
There is always a beautiful ceremony with each Military member's name being said aloud, representing that they have not been forgotten. Often there are speakers, bagpipes, musicians, Flag presentations, and more.
So even if you are unable to volunteer...everyone is welcome to attend a ceremony.
