💕🐾 Meet Coco Chanel! 🐾💕
Approximately 10 months old

Coco Chanel is ready to trade in her recovery time for a forever family! 🥰 This beautiful little girl has recently had her soft palate surgery, nares widened, and has been spayed. She’s on the mend and doing great — and now she’s ready to find the family she’s been waiting for! 💗

Coco is still very much a puppy — spunky, funny, lovable, and full of personality! 😍 She’s the kind of girl who will keep you laughing, keep you smiling, and happily soak up all the love you have to give.

She also gets along great with little dogs, making her a wonderful companion for the right family. 🐶💕

Coco’s final medical item is her rabies vaccination, which she still needs to receive.

💗 A Little Help for Coco 💗
Coco’s recent surgeries, spay, and veterinary care have been a significant expense for our rescue. We are so grateful that we were able to get this sweet girl the care she needed to give her the best chance at a happy, healthy life.

If you’re able to make a donation toward Coco’s medical expenses, no matter how small, it would mean so much to us and help our rescue continue caring for dogs like Coco who need us. 🐾❤️ Every dollar truly helps!

✨ Adoption fee: $500 ✨

If you think Coco Chanel might be your perfect match, we’d love to hear from you! ❤️

Coco has been through a lot already, and now she deserves the best part — a forever home filled with love, snuggles, and plenty of puppy fun! 🏡💕🐾

Who’s ready to make Coco Chanel part of the family? 🥹❤️

HUGE THANK YOU TO Samantha Wilder Amy Smith and her friend (sorry her name slipped my mind) and Sonia Bash for coming to the shelter and helping us pack up and clean. It's bittersweet to see all our hard work in boxes but I know God has a plan and I am looking forward to a short break, some time to do fundraising, and then hopefully in January we can start focusing on TNR for some of these cats!

🐾 WHAT IF YOU COULD HELP HOMEWARD BOUND EARN GRANT MONEY… WITHOUT DONATING A SINGLE DOLLAR?! 🐾

Okay guys, THIS is something I need everyone to get behind because it costs you NOTHING except changing where you search the internet! 🙌

Meet DogDog.org — a search engine that uses the money generated from searches to help fund animal shelters and rescues! 🐶❤️

Think about how many times you Google something every single day. Directions. A recipe. Some random question at 2 AM. 😂 Now imagine if those same searches could help put food in bowls, pay vet bills, fund spay/neuter programs, and ultimately SAVE ANIMALS.

That’s the idea behind DogDog!

👉 Go to DogDog.org
👉 Download/use DogDog for your searches
👉 Choose your rescue of choice — and we REALLY hope you'll choose Homeward Bound Animal Rescue! ❤️🐾
👉 Then SEARCH, SEARCH, SEARCH!

EVERY SEARCH GETS US CLOSER TO EARNING GRANT FUNDING!

This is one of those opportunities where I'm asking EVERYONE who follows us to participate because you don't have to open your wallet. You don't have to foster. You don't have to volunteer.

You literally just have to search the internet like you already do.

Imagine what could happen if our entire Homeward Bound family started using it. 👀

Please download it, select Homeward Bound Animal Rescue, and then SHARE THIS POST so your friends and family can do the same!

🐾 SEARCH THE WEB. HELP SAVE ANIMALS. IT REALLY CAN BE THAT SIMPLE. 🐾

DogDog.org ❤️

Every search counts. Every person counts. And together, those little actions can turn into something HUGE for the animals we serve. 🐶🐱❤️

People see animal rescue and think it’s about loving animals.

And yes, you HAVE to love them.

But love is probably the easiest part.

What people don't see is what it actually takes to dedicate your life to animals who cannot advocate for themselves.

It's waking up already exhausted and knowing there are still animals depending on you.

It's cleaning p**p, washing blankets, giving medications, answering messages, scheduling appointments, begging for fosters, begging for donations, arranging transports, buying supplies, paying bills, handling emergencies and somehow trying to figure out where you're going to put "just one more."

It's your phone becoming something you almost dread looking at because every notification could be another animal hit by a car, another litter dumped in the desert, another sick kitten, another dog someone "needs gone TODAY."

It's looking into the eyes of an animal who has been failed by humans and silently promising them that somehow, some way, you're going to make it better.

And sometimes you can't.

That's the part people don't talk about enough.

Sometimes you give everything you have and they still die.

Sometimes you spend hundreds or thousands of dollars trying to save one life and still drive home with an empty carrier.

Sometimes you have to make decisions that absolutely destroy you because loving an animal also means knowing when continuing isn't fair to them.

And then, while you're still grieving THAT animal, the phone rings again.

There's another one.

Rescue doesn't conveniently stop because you're tired.

It doesn't care that you're emotionally drained, that your family misses you, that your bank account is struggling, that you haven't slept enough, or that yesterday completely broke your heart.

They still need to eat.
They still need medication.
They still need clean bedding.
They still need appointments.
They still need someone to show up.

So you show up.

Again.

And again.

And again.

And somewhere along the way, rescuers learn how to carry an unbelievable amount of grief while still functioning.

We remember the ones we couldn't save.

We remember the terrified eyes.

We remember the ones dumped like garbage.

We remember the ones we held while they took their last breath.

We remember the cases that made us question humanity.

And yes, we remember the happy endings too. Those are what keep us going.

But please understand something:

Rescuers are not superheroes.

We are human beings who get overwhelmed. We cry. We get angry. We get frustrated. We burn out. Sometimes we need a break. Sometimes we need help. Sometimes we need someone else to say, "I've got this one. You can rest."

And needing that doesn't mean someone isn't dedicated enough.

It means they've probably been dedicated for so long that they've forgotten what it feels like NOT to carry the weight of everyone else's emergencies.

Animal rescue will teach you compassion on a level you never knew existed.

But it will also teach you heartbreak.

Sacrifice.

Patience.

Humility.

Grief.

And the painful reality that you cannot save them all.

But you keep going because while you may not be able to save them all...

to the ones you DO save, it means absolutely everything.

So the next time you see a rescuer who looks tired, overwhelmed, emotional, frustrated or maybe isn't answering your message fast enough...

Remember that you're probably seeing only a tiny fraction of what they're carrying.

Sometimes the people who spend their lives saving everyone else need someone to show up for them, too. ❤️🐾

GOOD NEWS!!!! All of our cats have been adopted or placed with other rescues and sanctuaries!!!!

Now, we do still have a couple kittens and adult cats in foster care but other than that we are cat free at our shelter. That being said the work is far from done.

We need lots of help cleaning up, packing up, and moving out. So donations of moving boxes, the use of some larger vehicles and or trucks, and just people! More hands make for light work!

We will be working starting tomorrow and going on throughout the week. If you can be of help text us 928-388-7519 and we can let you know when and where to show up.

Thanks again everyone!
