Many Mexican and Chicano families have lost connection to their Indigenous roots due to colonization, forced assimilation, and displacement. At Chicano Ink Cultural Center, we believe that reconnecting with ancestral identity is not only a personal journeyโit is a collective act of healing and empowerment.
We are launching Reclaiming Our Roots, a community-based ancestry program to help individuals research their Indigenous heritage through genealogy, oral history, and tribal education. With your support, we will provide:
โ Access to professional genealogy assistance
โ Workshops on Mexican civil records and tribal enrollment pathways
โ Cultural education on Indigenous languages, traditions, and history
โ Scholarships for DNA testing only when paired with documented family trees
โ Assistance with building family trees and gathering legal documentation
โ Outreach events for reconnecting families and tribal representatives
This fundraiser will help cover costs for research materials, expert consultations, travel to archives, technology, and direct support for low-income families who are ready to reclaim their Indigenous identity.
Your donation helps restore identity, dignity, and belonging for people whose ancestry was erased but whose spirit remains unbroken.
How You Can Help:
โ Donate any amountโevery dollar brings a family closer to their roots
โ Share this fundraiser with your network
โ Sponsor a participant in the program
โ Volunteer your skills (e.g. translation, genealogy, legal support)
Together, we can rebuild the sacred bridge between the past and presentโone family at a time.
Tlazohkamati. Thank you for supporting cultural survival and community healing.
