Okla. VFW funded the Oklahoma Flags.😍
FROM THE PAST STATE COMMANDER: This Memorial Day weekend in the Netherlands has been one our family will never forget. 🇺🇸🇳🇱

Today we honored 121 Oklahoma servicemen buried far from home who gave their lives during World War II for the freedoms we enjoy today.

With the help of Stef, a wonderful Dutch citizen, we continued a tradition that has been carried on for more than 60 years by placing Oklahoma flags at each gravesite at the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten.

Standing among these heroes was a powerful reminder that freedom is never free. Their courage, sacrifice, and service must never be forgotten.

I’m especially thankful my grandchildren were able to be part of this experience and learn the importance of honoring our veterans and remembering those who paid the ultimate price.

May we always remember.

Greeting Oklahomans, veterans, and advocates,

With the Oklahoma Legislature expected to adjourn early this year, the Oklahoma Veterans Council is announcing the updated date and time for the annual Oklahoma Veterans Awareness Day. This year’s ceremony and awards presentations will take place on Thursday, May 14th at 10:00 a.m. in the Oklahoma State Capitol. Seating is located in House Gallery on the 5th floor.
Veterans from across the state—as well as all veterans’ organizations, supporters, and friends—are invited and encouraged to attend.

Event Details:
• Date: Thursday, May 14th
• Time: Please arrive around 9:30 a.m. to allow time for parking and reaching the 5th floor gallery • Location: Oklahoma State Capitol, House Gallery (5th Floor) • Who: Veterans, veterans’ organizations, supporters, and friends
