Nela Peoples proudly represented the Langston University Agricultural Alumni Association (LUAAA) as she taught campers about seed growth and the journey from seed to plant. By investing in the next generation, we’re helping cultivate future agricultural leaders—one lesson at a time.

I had the opportunity to show the youth how a high tunnel is built, how it functions, and why it’s such an important tool in agriculture. Every lesson planted today is an investment in tomorrow’s conservationists.

Today, I had the honor of speaking as President of the Langston University Agricultural Alumni Association (LUAAA) to kick off the G.R.O.W.S. in Ag Summer Camp.

We talked about agriculture, the importance of protecting our soil and water, and the purpose of a high tunnel.

My message was simple: No matter what career you choose, you can be a conservationist.

A special thank you to Nela Peoples, a 2026 Langston University graduate and new LUAAA member, for volunteering and investing in the next generation. Your willingness to give back is what our alumni association is all about.

LUAAA is proud to support the GROWS IN AG Summer Camp — and registration is closing soon!

This is a great opportunity for students entering grades 3–9 to gain hands-on agricultural experience, develop leadership skills, and hear from community leaders who are invested in their future.

Our own President, Malcolm Jones, will be among the guest speakers joining Dr. Carlos M Robinson, Dr. Tammie Steele, Senator Nikki Nice, and Councilman Camal Pennington.
