Yukon promotes a military veteran! Congratulations Chief Brown!

The City of Yukon is pleased to announce the appointment of John Brown as Chief of Police. Brown brings over 23 years of law enforcement experience and more than 27 years of military leadership to the position.

Brown has spent over 21 years with the Yukon Police Department, rising through the ranks from Officer, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, and Major to his most recent role as Deputy Chief. Throughout his tenure, he has managed daily operations, department policy, and community relations, while also serving as a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE), Honor Guard Commander, and SFST/DRE instructor.

Veterans, how will your story be remembered?

Every veteran has a story. A story of service, sacrifice, duty, friendship, courage, and love of country. Those stories deserve to live on long after we are gone.

This weekend, Yukon American Legion Post 160 is partnering with Senator James Lankford's office to record veterans' stories as part of the Veterans History Project, which will be permanently preserved in the Library of Congress.

Many veterans never talk about their service. Some believe their experiences were "nothing special." But to your children, grandchildren, and future generations, your story is priceless. They deserve to hear your voice, learn about your experiences, and understand the sacrifices that helped protect our nation.

Families, please encourage the veterans in your lives to participate. One day, these recordings may become a treasured family legacyโ€”a chance for future generations to hear firsthand what their veteran lived through, accomplished, and sacrificed.

No veteran's story is too small. Whether you served during wartime or peacetime, at home or overseas, your service matters. Your story matters.

Don't let your history be lost to time.

Leave a legacy. Preserve your story. Honor your service.

Contact Senator Lankford's office today to schedule your recording session and ensure your story becomes part of America's permanent historical record.

Your service helped shape our nation's history. Now help preserve it.
Call Senator Lankford Officie at (918) 581-7651 to schedule.

FROM THE POST COMMANDER: This Memorial Day weekend in the Netherlands has been one our family will never forget. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฑ

Today we honored 121 Oklahoma servicemen buried far from home who gave their lives during World War II for the freedoms we enjoy today.

With the help of Stef, a wonderful Dutch citizen, we continued a tradition that has been carried on for more than 60 years by placing Oklahoma flags at each gravesite at the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten.

Standing among these heroes was a powerful reminder that freedom is never free. Their courage, sacrifice, and service must never be forgotten.

Iโ€™m especially thankful my grandchildren were able to be part of this experience and learn the importance of honoring our veterans and remembering those who paid the ultimate price.

May we always remember.
