Westside R/C

Westside R/C Club is a non-profit organization chartered by the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) Chapter 1023. We are devoted to promoting, building, and flying Radio Control Aircraft. Our flying field is located on the north side of Yukon Oklahoma serving all of the Greater Oklahoma City Metropolitan Area.

Membership to the AMA is required of all club members. The Academy of Model Aeronautics, established in 1936, is a world-class association of model aviation enthusiasts. Representing more than 195,000 members in the United States, AMA’s national headquarters is in Muncie, Indiana, also home to the International Aeromodelling Center. Originally created to organize and support competitive aeromodelling, AMA has evolved and today has become the collective voice and advocate for its membership. AMA membership continues to support competitive aeromodelling in the United States, provides a voice for its members with the government, technical expertise covering all aspects of model building and flying, a monthly magazine filled with articles covering all aspects of aeromodelling, and supplemental insurance to help cover members for any damages their aircraft may cause.

Club operations are handled by a Board of Directors elected annually by the club membership. The President, Vice-President, Secretary-Treasurer, Safety Officer and the Field Marshal work with the membership to maintain the flying field, sponsor club events, provide training for new members and community outreach.

Westside R/C is a participant in the AMA’s Introductory Pilot Program. This program is designed to introduce people to flying radio controlled aircraft with qualified instructors while providing liability insurance coverage to the non-AMA member and the club. People signing up for the program are allowed to visit the field 3 times to fly with an Introductory Pilot Instructor using a club training aircraft. In addition to the Introductory Pilot Program, the club also provides training for new members to help you learn to fly using one of the club trainer aircraft or yours.
