Help us congratulate Chief Kelley on his much deserved retirement!

After 35 years of dedicated service to the Oklahoma City Fire Department, Fire Chief Richard Kelley has announced he will retire on September 30, 2026.

Chief Kelley began his career with the Oklahoma City Fire Department on September 13, 1991. Throughout his career, he served in every rank before becoming the 21st Fire Chief in the department’s history in 2017.

During his tenure as Fire Chief, the department continued to grow and evolve to meet the needs of a rapidly expanding city. Under his leadership, Oklahoma City expanded to 38 fire stations, strengthened firefighter safety initiatives, enhanced emergency response capabilities, invested in specialized rescue resources, and embraced new technologies, including the department’s nationally recognized drone program. He also helped guide the implementation of fire-based EMS transport, the Whole Blood Program, and Mobile Integrated Healthcare, further expanding the department’s ability to provide advanced, lifesaving care to the community.

Chief Kelley’s leadership has left a lasting impact on the department, its members, and the residents of Oklahoma City.

As he prepares to conclude an outstanding 35-year career, we thank Chief Kelley for his dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment to public safety.

As we get ready to celebrate Independence Day, Yukon Firefighters Local 2055 wants to remind everyone to celebrate safely and responsibly.

🔥 A few simple precautions can make all the difference:
• Leave fireworks to the professionals.

• Keep grills well away from homes, decks, and other combustible materials.

• Store gasoline and other flammable liquids safely.

• Plan for a sober ride home if you’re celebrating.

• Check that your smoke alarms are working before the holiday begins.

⚠️ Important Reminder: Although Oklahoma law has changed regarding fireworks, discharging fireworks remains illegal within the City of Yukon. Violations may result in enforcement action, and illegal fireworks increase the risk of fires, injuries, and damage to property.

Whether you’re teaching life lessons, cheering from the sidelines, helping with homework, or simply being there when it matters most, your impact is felt every day.

We’re excited to give you a first look at our new 2026 Pierce Enforcer, soon to be placed in service as Engine 2 at Fire Station 2.

Built to serve the citizens of Yukon for years to come, Engine 2 features:
💧 720 gallons of water
🧯 30-gallon foam system
🚒 Modern firefighting and rescue capabilities designed to enhance our emergency response efforts

Engine 2 also debuts the department’s newest apparatus color scheme, representing the continued evolution of the Yukon Fire Department while maintaining the professionalism and tradition our community has come to recognize.

This is just a teaser! Over the next several days, our crews will be hard at work outfitting the apparatus with everything it needs to answer the call, including hoses, firefighting equipment, extrication tools, SCBAs, medical equipment, and all the other tools necessary to protect our community.

Stay tuned as we take you behind the scenes and highlight the features, equipment, and capabilities that make this new engine a valuable addition to the Yukon Fire Department fleet.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Pierce Mfg and Conrad Fire for their partnership throughout this project. Their continued commitment to the fire service, dedication to building quality apparatus, and support of firefighters across Oklahoma help ensure departments like ours have the tools needed to serve our communities safely and effectively.

Today we were proud to participate in the Oklahoma State Firefighters Association (OSFA) Golf Tournament as part of the 2026 OSFA Convention being hosted right here in Yukon.

This week, Yukon has the privilege of welcoming firefighters, from across Oklahoma as they come together for strengthening the fire service statewide.

We appreciate everyone who traveled to Yukon and hope you enjoy your time in our community. Thank you to OSFA for bringing this event to our city and for your continued dedication to supporting Oklahoma firefighters.

Over the past several weeks, members from all three shifts had the opportunity to train in our new burn tower, completing multiple live-fire evolutions focused on fire behavior, search techniques, and communication.

There is no substitute for live-fire training. While classroom instruction and simulations are valuable, experiencing real heat, smoke, fire growth, changing conditions, and limited visibility provides lessons that simply can’t be replicated any other way.

This training allows firefighters to sharpen critical skills, build confidence, and gain a better understanding of how fire behaves under real-world conditions. It reinforces decision-making, teamwork, and situational awareness all while operating in a controlled environment designed to prepare us for the challenges we face on emergency scenes.

Every hour spent training is an investment in the safety of our firefighters and the citizens we serve. When the tones drop and it’s time to perform, the experience gained in training helps ensure we’re ready to respond effectively and safely.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make these training evolutions possible. The work put in today prepares us for tomorrow’s emergencies.

We had an incredible time at the Spirit League All Star Game tonight alongside Yukon Police Department and a special appearance from Sparky!

Every athlete out there absolutely crushed it. The energy, smiles, determination, and excitement are what make nights like this so special. We are always grateful for the invitation and the opportunity to be involved with such an amazing organization and community event.

Thank you to everyone with Spirit League for everything you do and for allowing us to be a part of such a memorable evening. We’re already looking forward to next year! ❤️🚒🚓⚾🐶

Today we remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Memorial Day is more than a long weekend it is a time to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy because of those who never made it home.

We want to recognize and thank EMS professionals across the United States for their service, dedication, and sacrifice.
Behind every call for help is a provider willing to answer no matter the hour, the conditions, or the circumstances. The long shifts, sleepless nights, endless paperwork, emotional stress, and mental toll are sacrifices most people never fully see, but EMS professionals continue to show up day after day for their communities.
A simple “thank you” will never truly be enough for what you do. The compassion, professionalism, and care you provide make a difference in countless lives every single day.
