🚒 A little hard work, teamwork, and pride in our station!

A huge shoutout to Blue Shift at Station 2 for taking the initiative to build a new outdoor patio using donated materials, including bricks from historic Route 66.

This project was completed by our firefighters while on shift, between calls, through their own hard work, dedication, and plenty of sweat equity.

It’s a great example of the pride our members take in their fire stations and their willingness to go above and beyond to improve them without putting an additional financial burden on the city.

👏 Great work, Blue Shift, and thank you to everyone who helped make this project possible!

Congratulations to the Yukon Millers on a huge 36–35 victory over the Mustang Broncos last night! 🏈

The exciting win snapped an eight-game losing streak against their rivals and moved the Millers to 2–0 on the season. What a great way to start the year!

What an awesome night at Rock the Route! 🎸🚒🇺🇸

A huge thank you to everyone who came out and made this year’s event such a great one. Between The Smokin’ Oaks, Josh Weathers, the food trucks, family activities, and an awesome drone show to finish out the night, there was plenty to enjoy.

We even caught a break from the Oklahoma heat with a nice breeze, which made for a perfect evening downtown.

And from the fire/EMS side of things, we’re especially happy to say the event went smoothly with no medical emergencies — always the best kind of event for us!

Thank you to everyone who helped organize, work, and support Rock the Route, and to our community for coming out and making it such a great night. We’re already looking forward to next year! 🚒🎶

Today marks four years since we lost Sgt. Rudy Sanchez, and while time continues to move forward, the impact Rudy left on all of us remains just as strong. The memories, and stories, continue to be carried by those who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him.

🔥 CANADIAN COUNTY BURN BAN IN EFFECT 🔥

The Canadian County Board of Commissioners has issued a countywide burn ban effective at 12:00 p.m. today, August 13, 2026, due to extreme fire danger.

During the burn ban, open burning is prohibited, including fireworks, campfires, bonfires, and the burning of trash, debris, vegetation, agricultural fields, forest, or grassland.

🚒 Please use extreme caution with anything that could create a spark or ignition source. Current conditions can allow a small fire to spread rapidly and threaten homes, property, and lives.

Please help us protect our community and our first responders by following the burn ban and reporting fires immediately.

Help us congratulate Chief Kelley on his much deserved retirement!

After 35 years of dedicated service to the Oklahoma City Fire Department, Fire Chief Richard Kelley has announced he will retire on September 30, 2026.

Chief Kelley began his career with the Oklahoma City Fire Department on September 13, 1991. Throughout his career, he served in every rank before becoming the 21st Fire Chief in the department’s history in 2017.

During his tenure as Fire Chief, the department continued to grow and evolve to meet the needs of a rapidly expanding city. Under his leadership, Oklahoma City expanded to 38 fire stations, strengthened firefighter safety initiatives, enhanced emergency response capabilities, invested in specialized rescue resources, and embraced new technologies, including the department’s nationally recognized drone program. He also helped guide the implementation of fire-based EMS transport, the Whole Blood Program, and Mobile Integrated Healthcare, further expanding the department’s ability to provide advanced, lifesaving care to the community.

Chief Kelley’s leadership has left a lasting impact on the department, its members, and the residents of Oklahoma City.

As he prepares to conclude an outstanding 35-year career, we thank Chief Kelley for his dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment to public safety.

As we get ready to celebrate Independence Day, Yukon Firefighters Local 2055 wants to remind everyone to celebrate safely and responsibly.

🔥 A few simple precautions can make all the difference:
• Leave fireworks to the professionals.

• Keep grills well away from homes, decks, and other combustible materials.

• Store gasoline and other flammable liquids safely.

• Plan for a sober ride home if you’re celebrating.

• Check that your smoke alarms are working before the holiday begins.

⚠️ Important Reminder: Although Oklahoma law has changed regarding fireworks, discharging fireworks remains illegal within the City of Yukon. Violations may result in enforcement action, and illegal fireworks increase the risk of fires, injuries, and damage to property.
