One year ago, God placed a vision on my heart that felt way too big for me to carry.

A rescue and restoration ranch…
For horses.
For people.
For broken places that needed healing.

And let me be clear… it didn’t make sense.

I didn’t have all the answers.
I had no clue how to run a nonprofit.
I didn’t have a perfect plan.
I had no clue how to get the ball rolling.
There were moments it felt completely impossible.

But when God calls you in a direction, there’s a knowing you can’t ignore.

So I said yes.
Not a confident, polished yes…
But a trembling, uncertain, “I’ll take the next step” kind of yes.

Step by step…
Prayer by prayer…
Obedience in the small things…

Even when I couldn’t see the full picture.
(And I still can’t completely)

Even when I questioned if I was capable.
(Still doing this 🤫)

Even when the road felt unclear.

But I hold strong to the knowledge that faith isn’t about having it all figured out…

It’s about trusting the One who does.

And today…
We received official documentation from the IRS that we are now a fully federally approved 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

Let me say that again…
What once felt impossible is now real.

Not because I had it all together…
But because God did.

God chose my perfect board members well before I ever asked them to join me in this mission!

This journey has taught me that when God plants something in your heart, it’s not random.
It’s not wishful thinking.
It’s an invitation.

An invitation to trust Him.
To MOVE… even when it’s uncomfortable.

To take intentional steps forward… even when you don’t fully understand where they’ll lead.

Because His plans are bigger than our fear.
Greater than our limitations.

And far beyond anything we could ever imagine for ourselves.

If He called you to it…
He will equip you for it.
If He placed it in your heart…
He will bring it to completion.

All He’s asking for is your yes.

So if you’re standing at the edge of something that feels overwhelming…
If you’re questioning whether you’re ready…
If you’re waiting until it all makes sense…

This is your reminder:

You don’t have to see the whole path.
You just have to take the next step.

And trust that God will meet you there 🤍

Creating space for healing at Grace and Grit 🤍

When the mind is loud and overwhelming…
horses bring you back to stillness.

No pressure.
No labels.
No expectations.

Just presence.

And sometimes…
that’s exactly where healing begins. 🤍

Doubt.
Fear.

This morning, while I was spending quiet time out at the ranch with the horses, my mind started getting bombarded with thought after thought…

“All this hard work is gonna be for nothing.”

“It will never become what you think it will.”

“Other places have already done this… this isn’t special.”

“You don’t have what it takes.”

“You don’t have enough money.”

“This is going to be way harder than you think.”

“You should probably make your dream smaller so it’s easier.”

Do you want the truth?

This is where most people quit.

The middle.

Not the beginning when the dream is exciting and full of possibility.

And not the end when everyone can finally see the vision.

The middle…
When the work is hard.
When progress feels slow.
When nothing looks the way you imagined yet.
When it feels like you’re pouring everything you have into something that hasn’t produced the fruit… yet.

And that’s when the doubt creeps in.

That’s when the enemy finds the tiniest crack in the door.

He slips his foot in just enough to start whispering.

He grabs hold of your smallest doubts and starts feeding them…
turning them over and over in your mind until they grow bigger than the dream itself.

Another project done on the property.
Another project started.

More sweat.
More time.
More sacrifice.

And yet… the doubt still tries to show up.

So I had to stop and ask myself this morning…

Why?

Why, when so much hard work is being poured into this place…
when progress is actually being made…
when the vision is still burning inside of me…

Why would fear and doubt suddenly try to run rampant in my mind?

And the answer hit me pretty clearly.

Because the middle is where faith gets tested.

The beginning requires excitement.
The end brings celebration.

But the middle requires belief.

Belief when there’s no applause.
Belief when there’s no proof yet.
Belief when the only evidence you have is the quiet whisper in your heart that says:

“Keep going.”

So today… I’m choosing that.

Not because the doubt didn’t show up.

But because it doesn’t get the final say.

When Sarah and I got two wild mustangs in June 2025, we brought home two very different nervous systems.

Cash was around 2 years old.
Gypsy was around 8 months old.

Both went through a c**t training program that gave them a foundation I’m grateful for. But as they’ve grown, their differences have become clear.

Cash is steady. Calm. Thoughtful. He processes pressure and stays grounded.

Gypsy is sensitive. Quick. Hyperaware. If you touch her belly unexpectedly, she jumps. If you reach for her eyes, she wants to pull away.

She isn’t mean.
She’s unsure.

Cash had two full years of living wild, building resilience, navigating herd life, solving problems.

Gypsy was still very much a baby when she came to us. In fact, the other c**ts kept her tucked safely in the middle of them.

That told me something.

Confidence isn’t just about training, I’ve learned.
It’s about timing.
It’s about nervous system development.
It’s about how much life a horse has lived before we ask more of them.

We got to go through a c**t training program which was amazing (if you get to take that class with Jenna DO IT) but I think Gypsy’s little mind wasn’t developed with enough maturity when we did that program.

But here’s what matters most…

I see softness in her.
I see curiosity.
It only took 5 minutes to teach her to kiss.

There is a brave horse in there.

Because of my recovery and experience, I know that nervous systems can change.

Bravery can be built.
Confidence can be developed.
Trust can be rewired.

Not through force.
Through consistency.
Through safety.
Through time.

I realize Gypsy doesn’t need to be forced to listen.
She needs to be developed.

And I fully believe she will become the strong, confident horse she was always meant to be.

Grace & Grit Ranch will be a place where rebuilding, whether in humans or horses, will happen through consistency, patience, and emotional safety. 🤍🐴

Follow along to watch as we take Gypsy all the way back to the basics and rebuild her mind and steadiness with a peaceful consistency.

These three photos? This is where it started.

March 2025.
Just raw land. Dirt. Wind. Possibility.

But the story actually began in a hotel room.

We were out of town for one of my husband’s car shows. Saturday afternoon, we came back early. He fell asleep. And within an hour… God painted a vision so clear it took my breath away.

For the next 5–6 hours I laid there researching like a woman on fire.
Raw land.
Septic systems.
Wells vs hauled water.
Stalls. Arenas. Round pens.
Nonprofit formation.
Gold-standard transparency.
Horse rescue models.
Trauma-informed healing programs.
Clinical integration.

If it existed — I researched it.

The next morning at breakfast, with tears in my eyes, I poured my heart out to my husband. When I finished, he looked at me and said:

“Okay… let’s find a piece of land then.”

And just like that, faith met action.

Within a couple of months — supported by family and friends — I bought this land. No blueprint. No experience in land development. No certainty except this:

A total willingness to be a conduit for God and the Kingdom.

Grace and Grit Rescue & Restoration Ranch was born from obedience — not expertise.

We are still building.
Still learning.
Still taking one faithful step at a time.

Trusting that God will bring forth everything He intends to accomplish here — for the horses, and for the people who will find healing on this soil.

This is just the beginning. 🤍🐎

Grace and Grit Rescue & Restoration Ranch vision was born from a place of deep personal understanding of brokenness… and the miracle of restoration.

I know what it feels like to be lost, to be wounded, and to wonder if healing is even possible. And I’ve also experienced the power of grace, the kind that meets you where you are and refuses to leave you there.

Horses have a way of seeing past the pain, the past, and the walls we build.

They don’t judge.
They don’t pretend.
They meet you honestly, and in that space, healing begins.

This ranch will exist to give rescued horses a second chance at life, and to give people a safe place to rediscover hope, purpose, and their worth.

Because rescue goes both ways.

This will be more than a rescue.
It will be a place of restoration.
And this is just the beginning.
