Highway Sanctuary

Highway Sanctuary The Highway Sanctuary inspiration port awaits. Abandon fear and express yourself! We are a 501 c-3 non-profit organization.

Please visit our website if you would like to contribute to our vision. The Highway Sanctuary is an arts center/artist residency space located in the Flamingo Heights area of Yucca Valley. We host regular workshops, free to the local community, with the intention of adding to our 5-acre on-site sculpture garden installation, with a focus on repurposed materials. We invite you to be a part of the magic of creation. We are open for visitors on the third Saturday of the month from 12-5pm.

About Spenser:

Spenser Little is a El Cajon California based self taught artist. Starting with clay as a young child he quickly moved into wood carving and metal fabrication. He started making marionette puppets in his teens, which led to diorama’s and viewer generated kinetic art. From there, he developed a love of kinetics and movement in his sculptures.
In his early twenties Little stumbled onto the idea of wire as a sculptural practice through using of the material with wooden marionettes. Wire soon took over and he began leaving wire objects in public spaces in the late 90s.
Little has left wire sculptures all around the world and shown his works in galleries and museums internationally.

HighwaySanctuary presents: A Flash Tattoo Fundraiser by Jamie Schene of Union3Tattoo

Jamie is a high desert local with a shared love of art, creativity, and free expression. He is generously donating his time to help raise money for Highway Sanctuary by offering tattoos from a brand new set of flash he created especially for this event.

The event will take place on Sunday and Monday, January 25th and 26th, at Highway Sanctuary in Flamingo Heights. There will be 10 slots available each day, on a first come, first served basis.

Those interested in booking a time should contact board member Matthew Case at [email protected] for pricing and deposit information.

Take the opportunity to become a permanent, mobile installation of Highway Sanctuary while supporting our mission of inclusive expression and community engagement.

We would also like to thank Inkeeze and Fusion Ink for sponsoring this event along with Jamie. Their generosity is deeply appreciated.

*Tipping the artist , while not required, is highly encouraged

Much gratitude to those who made their way to the Highway Sanctuary yesterday for Sophia Lehrich 's ( ) workshop Rocks and Wind, followed by a performance by Barbara Koch and Sophia Rumasuglia of .artscollective inside Sophia Lehrich's sculpture installation, "The Cookoo’s Nest Oasis."

I was so immersed in the crystal bowls and Sophia's rattle arsenal that I didn't get pics of the workshop, but I'm happy to share these captures. The whole experience was one of connection and release, in a comfortable environment.
