When my kids were very young, I had to take my son to the doctor to get a couple of stitches in his leg. He was being very, very brave. However, my daughter was crying, she was so worried about him. So I took a nice deep breath, held her little hands, and asked her "do I look worried?" She said "no," and she was able to relax.
This was something that I had been doing with them since they were babies. Now the interesting thing was that I didn't always feel NOT worried - like when their Grammy had a stroke.
And if I was really worried, they'd know it. They'd feel it. And they'd react to it.
So I HAD TO MAKE IT TRUE for me - I had to be at peace in my heart in order to share my peace with them.
And I would do just that - I'd take a nice deep breath and find some way to center myself before I'd ask them the question, "do I look worried?"
So when their Grammy (my grandmother) had that stroke, I could tell them "I'm so sad this happened, and I'm sad because I want her to feel good. But the doctors and nurses are taking really good care of her, and they are doing their very best."
Because I could be at peace, they could too.
Hard times, scary times, are the whole reason we are designed to radiate peace from within us. We all know we can't find peace in the thing we are scared of, or mad at, or resentful of.
And finding inner peace does not have to be complicated; it's more of a realization that source energy, the divine consciousness that's always at work within us, for our highest good, is already at work within the situation that worries us, scares us, or infuriates us.
The peace of my soul brings peace to the world (my family, friends, & loved ones).
If you would like to learn more about this thing we call inner peace, and that power at work within you, join us Sundays at 10am - we can help you with that.
Big, big, love,
