SYRCL's Community Engagement Manager Emily Wilson has the rundown on a few lesser-known cleanup opportunities that deserve just as much love as Bridgeport and Highway 49.
PIONEER TRAIL and HARMONY RIDGE along Highway 20 sees significant illegal dumping -- carpets, car parts, appliances, and small trash that threatens the soil and wildlife. There is work here for everyone, whether you want to haul the big stuff or focus on the small pieces.
If you have never cleaned up from a boat, the ENGLEBRIGHT LAKE cleanup is your chance. Much of the trash from across the watershed flows down to Englebright — making this team essential to a complete cleanup of the river system.
On the San Juan Ridge, SHADY CREEK and SPRING CREEK are carrying trash that needs to come out before it reaches the Yuba. These are beautiful, quieter sites that will make for a memorable morning.
And if you are more of a people person than a pick-things-up person, the VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION PARTY at Condon Park needs you too -- setting up tables, directing parking, leading kids' games, and serving water and lemonade to the volunteers who just gave their morning to this river.
