We are so glad to hear K9 Ty is okay and on the road to recovery. We wish him and his partner the best on the road back to doing what they do best.
EARLY MORNING TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO FELONY ARREST
Early this morning on Interstate 80 in the City of Dixon, deputies encountered a vehicle traveling at a dangerously slow speed, creating a hazard for other motorists. When a Solano County Sheriff’s Office K9 deputy attempted a traffic stop, the driver failed to yield, leading to a pursuit.
With assistance from the California Highway Patrol, a spike strip was successfully deployed, bringing the vehicle to a stop near I-80 and Travis Boulevard.
The driver remained uncooperative and refused repeated commands. After multiple attempts to gain compliance, K9 Ty was deployed to assist with the arrest. During the apprehension, the suspect violently attacked Ty, stabbing him multiple times in the neck and leg.
Ty was immediately pulled to safety by his handler and rushed to a nearby emergency veterinary clinic, where he was stabilized before being transferred to UC Davis Veterinary Hospital for surgery.
We are relieved to share that K9 Ty is now recovering at home. He is in stable condition and in good spirits.
The suspect was taken into custody, medically cleared at a local hospital, and booked into the Solano County Jail.
We are incredibly grateful to the teams at Solano-Napa Pet Emergency Clinic and UC Davis Veterinary Hospital for their lifesaving care. We also extend our sincere thanks to the California Highway Patrol, Vacaville Police Department, and Fairfield Police Department for their assistance.
K9 Ty’s bravery and dedication are a powerful reminder of the risks our K9 partners face in the line of duty. 💙🐾
