With only a handful of hikes to go in our Spring season, and the season finale Sunset Serenade fast approaching, I'd be remiss if I didn't get around to posting pics from our last North Butte Summit hike, from 4/4/26. It was yet again another glorious day in the Buttes, with another group of tough-as-nails hikers ready and able to take on this challenging 5-boot hike! Many thanks to all of our hikers this spring, and we hope to see you all again on future hikes.

3/28/2026, Summit Ascent of North Butte. Yet another glorious (but a tad overly warm!) spring day in the Buttes, with a terrific group of hikers ready to tackle this strenuous climb. Bonus for us guides, the hiker group had several "-ologists" of various disciplines, which added greatly to our discussions of the flora and fauna we encountered during the day. But one of the best treats was finding so many pipevine swallowtail caterpillars, ensuring that we'll continue to see this spectacular species in the Buttes for generations to come!

3/15/2026, Geology Hike. Consistently one of our most popular hikes, year after year, and this spring proved no different. Led by Dr. Brian Hausback, our hikers were engrossed in the deep dive of the geology and volcanic history of the Buttes. This hike always fills up very quickly, so be at the ready when next season's public hike season opens!

3/14/2026, Ridin' Fence, one of our two "Six-Booters!" Intrepid barely describes the amazing, tenacious hikers that signed up for this hike. They were incredible...enthusiastic, engaged, and full of energy, which is essential, as this hike can leave you exhausted (yep, a lot of "e" words there ;-)). If you enjoy challenging yourself, and want to experience much of what the Buttes have to offer, be sure to look for this hike next year!

3-7-2026, Brockman Challenge. Spring in the Buttes was beautiful this year, and March saw quite a few hikes in the great weather. A terrific group of hikers "accepted" the Brockman Challenge, including a side jaunt to the top of Bob's Hill, and were treated to amazing views...and even a friendly rattlesnake!
