Kiwanis Club of Yuba City hold installation event

The oldest Kiwanis Club in Yuba City recently installed new officers for the upcoming term, beginning another year of service to Yuba-Sutter. The club members welcomed Peter Klempau, Char Roberto, and Matt Sahota to the top 3 offices of President, President-elect, and Vice President. The immediate past president Tej Mann will remain as an officer for the next year. The club also greeted new Treasurer Sunil Tumber and returning Foundation Secretary Marie Teria and Fiscal Secretary Scott Roberts. Continuing Board members Linda Evans, Les Allen, Robert Stark, and Sharen Cornils welcomed the incoming members Terri Boyer, George Shaw and Louise Graham to the board for their 2-year term.
Kiwanis International is a global network of over a half-million members dedicated to improving the lives of children one community at a time. On average, members of the Kiwanis family host approximately 150,000 service projects every year that make transformative changes in communities around the world.

The local chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma recently awarded the ‘Service To Community Award’ to our Kiwanis Club of Yuba City. DKG society member and Kiwanian Carol McCaulley presented the award to President Tej Mann at our September 15th meeting. The award is in recognition of our club’s long-time and continuing support of Sutter County students. Our club promotes academic and personal growth for scholars in the Key Clubs at Yuba City High School, Live Oak High School, and East Nicolaus High School.
Delta Kappa Gamma is an international society whose mission is to promote the professional and personal growth of women educators and encourage excellence in education. Well done, Kiwanians!!

September 10, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. - Shady Creek Outdoor Education Foundation invites all to a free event - Friends & Family Day! Tour the Shady Creek campus, 18601 Pathfinder Way, Nevada City. You may bring a picnic lunch or purchase a burger for $6.00. Must register with Marie Teria (530) 635-2295 or email [email protected]

September 11, 2022, 11:00 a.m. - United Way's 7th Annual Golden Autumn Wine Festival held in Bishop Pumpkin Farm's Apple Orchard. Tickets are $40 to enjoy wine tasting from 12 area wineries

September 17, 2022 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. - Kiwanis Summer Summit will be held in the Yuba City Police Department Conference Room. This is a free event for all Kiwanians and a great way to learn about Kiwanis leadership, fundraising, member retention and more! Breakfast and Lunch will be provided by Lt. Governor Designate Ayesha Burroughs. Must register no later than September 12, 2022 via email to Marie at [email protected]. We encourage all Kiwanians to attend!

September 17, 2022, doors open at 6 p.m. - Shady Creek Outdoor Education Foundation invites you to attend "Evening in the Forest" held in The Courtyard at Colusa Casino Resort. Cocktail attire, heavy hors d'oeuvres (menu below), no host bar, silent auction/raffle. The event sponsor Colusa Casino Resort will also have a door drawing - with a huge prize! Ticket price is $50 per person. Proceeds will supplement the Foundation's goal of providing $50,000 in scholarships to students attending Shady Creek School.
