Good job and congratulations to everyone who competed at the tournament this weekend- not just the competitors, but the entire supporting team as well. I love having the opportunity to teach jiujitsu and every class I'm reminded it's not just about the skill but the incredible relationships and connections between members.

Due to the snow i can not make it over the hill to teach tonight, kim terra (black belt not white lol) has graciously offered to take over classes tonight. Lets get lots of people there to support kim tonight. It really is such a incredable and rare opportunity for us to have someone like him here. -Thank you kim

Siskiyou jujutsu!

Did you know?

Jiu Jitsu, meaning "gentle art," originated in Japan for samurai and was adapted in Brazil to focus on ground fighting, allowing smaller people to control larger opponents using leverage, chokes, and joint locks; it's like "physical chess,"

Key Concepts
* Leverage Over Strength: The art teaches you to use your opponent's momentum and leverage against them, making it effective for smaller fighters.
* Physical Chess: Matches require strategic thinking, anticipation, and problem-solving, similar to a game of chess.
* Submissions: The goal is to force an opponent to "submit" (tap out) using joint locks (like the Kimura) or chokes (like the Ezekiel).
* Full-Body Workout: It provides an intense full-body workout, improving strength, flexibility, balance, and endurance.
* Confidence Builder: Training builds mental focus, discipline, and confidence, applicable beyond fighting.
There can be many reasons for someone to practice jiu-jitsu and isn't just limited to just competition. You could be interested in learning the art as a form of intense fitness and exercise or for self-defence purposes as well.

‼️ IT’S TIME‼️
The Siskiyou jujutsu kids class is looking for more willing participants!
Although the classes grow monthly, the more kids the merrier!
What is jujutsu?

Jujutsu is a comprehensive system that includes several categories of movement:

Grappling (Kumiuchi): The primary focus, involving throws (nage-waza), pins, and takedowns to neutralize opponents.

Joint Locks & Chokes: Precise maneuvers (kansetsu-waza and shime-waza) targeting joints (wrists, elbows, shoulders) or the neck to force submission.

The name translates to "gentle art" or "art of yielding" (from ju, meaning soft or flexible, and jutsu, meaning art or technique).
