DID YOU RECEIVE TODAY'S TEST READYSISKIYOU-ALERT? 🚨

Earlier today, we conducted a countywide test of the ReadySiskiyou-Alerts emergency notification system.

If you received the alert, great! That means you're one step closer to receiving important emergency information when it matters most.

If you did NOT receive the test alert, we encourage you to review your account information or sign up for alerts at https://alerts.readysiskiyou.gov.

Did your family members, friends, or neighbors receive the test? Check in with those around you, especially older adults or others who may need assistance setting up or updating their account.

Let us know in the comments if you received the test alert and how you received it (text, email, phone call, etc.).

Are you ready Siskiyou?!

TODAY!!!!

We are conducting a countywide test of the ReadySiskiyou-Alerts emergency notification system; today...Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM.

Residents who are signed up for ReadySiskiyou-Alerts may receive a text message, email, phone call, and/or TTY notification based on their selected alert preferences.

This test helps ensure the system is working properly and allows residents to confirm their contact information is up to date before an emergency occurs. Taking a few minutes to verify your information today can help ensure you receive critical notifications when they matter most.

If you do not receive the test alert on June 16, we encourage you to review your account information or register for alerts at alerts.readysiskiyou.gov.

Not signed up yet? Take a minute to register before the June 16 test and make sure you're ready before the next emergency!

ReadySiskiyou-Alerts is one of several tools used to share important information during emergencies like wildfires, severe weather, floods, earthquakes, and other incidents that may impact Siskiyou County.

Additional emergency information can also be found through:
• ReadySiskiyou-Alerts: alerts.readysiskiyou.gov
• Genasys Protect (Know Your Zone): www.protect.genasys.com/search)

Dear Neighbor,

The City of W**d is committed to maintaining our quality
of life and the local services that our residents, businesses,
and visitors rely on every day. Like many small full-service
cities across California, our City’s budget is facing growing
pressures. We are inviting the community to learn more and
share feedback on how to move forward.

Despite our small population of approximately 2,700
residents, the City maintains 25 miles of roadway and similarly
sized water and sewer systems, and responds to roughly
20,000 police incidents and 800 fire calls each year — the
majority of which are medical in nature.

Rising costs for public safety, aging infrastructure, and recent
fire events — including the Main Street Fire — continue to
outpace revenue growth. City leadership has worked to
manage costs by maintaining long-term staffing vacancies,
deferring maintenance, and using one-time funds to bridge
short-term gaps. These steps have preserved core services for
now, but they are not a long-term solution.

As part of planning to meet these demands, and to hear
your thoughts on options that could include additional local
revenue to support City services, we are hosting a series of
community Town Halls in the weeks ahead. Please consider
joining us at one.

Day three of Fire Preparedness Week 2026.

Harden Your Home. Protect What Matters.

Wildfires often spread from structure to structure. The good news is that small upgrades can significantly improve your home’s chances of surviving.

Start with these home hardening basics:
• Roof & gutters: Keep them clean and free of leaves and needles
• Vents: Install ember-resistant vents to block sparks
• Windows: Dual-pane or tempered glass helps resist heat breakage
• Doors & gaps: Seal openings to keep embers out
• Zone 0 (0–5 feet): Remove anything flammable around your home
• Decks & fences: Use fire-resistant materials when possible
