Celebrating Our SOS Team!

There’s nothing better than taking a little time to celebrate the people who make SOS Community Services special!

Our SOS team recently gathered for our Summer Staff Picnic, enjoying good food, great conversation, and plenty of laughs together.

Our staff works hard every day to support children, families, and individuals in our community, and we’re grateful for the dedication, compassion, and heart they bring to their work.

Thank you to our amazing SOS team for all that you do—and for making our summer picnic one to remember!

Celebrating SOS Parents as Teachers! 🏡💙

The SOSPAT team recently returned from the bi-annual Michigan Home Visiting Conference in beautiful Traverse City!

Over three days, home visiting professionals from across Michigan came together to learn, connect, and share ideas. Our team especially enjoyed connecting with fellow Parents as Teachers providers from the Upper Peninsula to Kalamazoo and everywhere in between.

The conference was a wonderful opportunity for professional development, learning about best practices in home visiting, and strengthening relationships with partners across the state. It also reminded us that SOSPAT is part of a statewide network of dedicated professionals working every day to support Michigan children and families.

We’re proud of our team’s continued commitment to professional growth and providing high-quality home visiting services to families in our community! 💙

Salads are back! 🥗 Michigan cyclosporiasis cases are slowing, and data indicate that it's now safe to eat lettuce and salad greens like normal. The previous recommendation to avoid bagged salad mixes is no longer in effect.

This outbreak investigation is still ongoing, but most exposures to contaminated produce likely happened in late June to early July.

Public health officials are continuing to monitor this situation. We'll keep you updated if anything changes or data suggest additional contaminated products have entered the food supply.

You should still keep up regular food safety practices like washing produce, washing your hands, and storing food correctly. Never eat any recalled lettuce (which should be old by now, anyway).

Get more details in the Michigan Department of Health and Human Service's press release (link in the comments).
