We are grateful to have partnered with Henry County Public Schools to host the Growing Together for Early Learning Success conference in Martinsville-Henry County, Virginia, over the weekend!

It was an inspiring regional event that also marked the launch of our HighScope on the Road series. This initiative brings HighScope directly to communities across the country, making professional learning more accessible for educators and administrators.

In a HighScope classroom, art is a powerful form of active learning. Through open‑ended, two‑ and three‑dimensional art experiences, children express what they observe, think, imagine, and feel—while strengthening fine motor skills, creativity, and social development.

As educators, our role is to support the process by offering versatile materials, time to explore, and intentional interactions that extend children’s thinking. When children choose materials, make decisions, and reflect on their work, they are building confidence and deeper understanding.

Strategies to try:
⭐ Gradually introduce new materials and tools
⭐ Invite children to describe their process so you can recreate it
⭐ Wonder aloud about details they might add or change
⭐ Model creating and labeling your own work to support language and reflection

Art isn’t about the final product—it’s about meaningful learning in action.
