Peace Family. Happy Holidays. Many of you may know that I am on the board for the AACHM (African American Cultural & Historical Museum of Washtenaw County). We have some cool events planned this year for Kwanzaa. On the first day, we will live stream and join our sister city Detroit, in the Candle Lighting of the largest Kinara in the World. What up family. It has been a long time dream to open up a gateway for African people over here in the states, for them to come home and visit Africa. The time is finally here. The Akoma Portal is hosting its first trip to Ghana this summer, from August 4-11. It will include a very nice hotel, slave castles, and a series of other cultural and tour activities that only you can experience in Ghana. We have 6 more spaces left. Come on! Peace Family. Yes. Yes! It is Black History Month. Y'all already know, I could never limit the celebration of my history and culture for 1 month. But, considering Dr. Carter G. Woodson's vision for the Black people to be respected in America, and using "New History Week" as a beginning, I honor the legacy. Although I love our History, I am also a believer of "Sankofa." We don't stay in the past. We have to keep moving forward. With that being said, For the Month of February, The AACHM and Akoma will Spotlight one of our local Entrepreneurs as legacy carriers.
