We’re excited to announce the launch of LAITR’s “Make a Lasting Impact” fundraiser💜! At Life After Incarceration: Transition and Reentry, we believe that life after incarceration should be about more than simply returning home. It is about building independence, developing meaningful life skills, improving quality of life, and creating pathways toward economic mobility. Our goal is to raise $10,000 to help us continue providing occupational therapy and life-skills services while supporting the operational costs that make this work possible.

Some exciting news posted to this newsletter edition. We have a new Executive Director, our Finance Manager, Gregory Harvey, has been working so hard behind the scenes and… our work program SHINE was transferred to DM19 Collaborative Reentry Services. We are so proud of our team and for Leroy Harris to continue to oversee SHINE.

Leroy Harris has worked with SHINE since SHINE’s first day! He then was promoted to team lead and supervised the work crew as they performed their work throughout Ypsilanti. Through his hard work, he has grown into the role as Executive Director at DM19 and will continue to lead SHINE under his nonprofit. Go give his nonprofit a follow!

Why do occupational therapists love gardening? because they offer so many opportunities for growth, for plants and people! Gardening supports strength, coordination, sensory engagement, problem-solving, and emotional well-being, all while connecting us with nature. Every seed planted is a chance to nurture independence, confidence, and meaningful participation in everyday life. 💚🌼 Thank you Ypsilanti Township, MI - Government and Washtenaw County Conservation District for making this happen with us!
