Isaka Memorial Foundation wants to welcome our new Social Work officer, Melissa Odhiambo (also on the right with hat), posing with our children and caregivers. The photos capture her very successful inaugural meeting with the stakeholders. Melissa hails from within the county and has been involved with events at Nyamila Community Center. She has hit the ground running and we ask all our well wishers to accord her the support she needs.

EUNICE ODIDA’S STORY The caregiver/widow was born in the year 1978 and was blessed with 5 children. Among them, two were sponsored by Nyamila Community Centre. Her husband died on 1/1/2001 living her with a grass thatched house which she has lived in since. According to the Luo traditions she has tried different men to help her build a new house but the men only live her pregnant. The community members believe in the Luo tradition that changing a widow’s house without inheriting her leads to death. Even the closest relatives could not support her.

Isaka Memorial Foundation through Nyamila Community Centre stepped in when the house was almost collapsing. NCC Chaiman, Mwalimu Caleb Owiti Owoko spearheaded the project.
