Ypsi Mask Project

As this strange and unforgettable school year draws to a close, we want to take one more opportunity to thank everyone who came together to keep our kids safe and make the year successful! The Ypsi Mask Project met our goal of delivering more than 4,000 reusable masks to YCS students -- with 2500 delivered as the first students came to school in September and 1500 more when more students returned to school in March.

THANK YOU to the incredible partners at Engage at EMU, Ypsilanti Community Schools Foundation, and many awesome volunteers who made this possible. It has been incredible to see how our community comes together when things get tough.

The first round of masks is all packed up and ready to be delivered to Ypsilanti Community Schools for the first day of school tomorrow! It was so much fun to see the lovely handiwork and cool and creative fabric selections provided by Engage at EMU and our talented volunteer sewing crew.

With the release of the district’s plan for the new school year, we must be prepared for some students, teachers, and support staff to be back in the schools this fall. However, like so many other Title One schools that serve vulnerable and low-income populations, YCS must make tough choices when prioritizing their spending. By providing crucial PPE for students and staff, we allow more money to be spent educating our children. Please help us provide masks for each returning student, teacher, or support staff by signing up to make a mask or making a donation- every amount helps!
