📣 Our House is hiring!
We’re looking for a Family Health Coordinator to join our team and help support pregnant and parenting youth and young adults as they build healthy, stable futures for themselves and their children.

This is a relationship-centered role for someone who believes that relationships come before paperwork, enjoys teaching and coaching, and is passionate about helping young people navigate systems and access the resources they need.

The Family Health Coordinator will:
✨ Help participants navigate medical, dental, behavioral health, and specialty care
✨ Provide individualized parenting education and support
✨ Connect families with resources such as childcare, WIC, Early On, and Early Head Start
✨ Conduct home and community visits
✨ Collaborate with our Health Services, Housing, Mentoring, and Life Skills teams
✨ Help young parents build confidence, stability, and healthy relationships with their children

We’re especially interested in candidates with backgrounds in nursing, social work, human services, education, early childhood, public health, psychology, community health, or related fields. Experience with parenting education, doula work, home visiting, family support, or working with youth and families is a plus.

Second Saturday Recap 📂✨

On Saturday, we hosted our August Second Saturday event featuring a Life Binder Workshop led by Cat.

Youth received their own Life Binder to help organize and safely store important personal documents such as birth certificates, Social Security cards, IDs, and other essential records. We also shared valuable community resources and discussed where to seek support when needed.

Having important documents organized and accessible is an important step toward independence and stability. Thank you, Cat, for leading such an informative and empowering workshop, and thank you to everyone who joined us!

🏡July Housing Event: Exploring Postsecondary Opportunities with WCC REACH & EMU Magic

Our housing participants had the opportunity to attend an informative workshop hosted by EMU MAGIC and WCC REACH, where they learned about the many educational pathways and support services available through Eastern Michigan University and Washtenaw Community College.

The session introduced participants to postsecondary options, financial and academic resources, and the programs designed to help students succeed throughout their educational journey. We are grateful to EMU MAGIC and WCC REACH for investing in our young adults and helping empower them to pursue their educational and career goals with confidence.

Last week, our youth took part in a therapeutic exploration workshop led by Cat and Centia. Through creative activities and guided reflection, participants had the opportunity to express themselves, explore their emotions, and connect with one another in a supportive environment.

Every year, one of our favorite traditions brings the Our House family together for a day of connection, laughter, and unforgettable memories. ❤️

A heartfelt thank you to the Clauw Family for once again opening your home, donating your time, and generously providing a delicious BBQ for our youth, mentors, staff, board members, and volunteers. Your kindness and hospitality create a space where meaningful relationships grow and everyone feels welcomed.

A special thank you as well to Zingerman's Bakehouse for donating an incredible assortment of baked goods and treats that made the day even sweeter!

Days like these remind us that community is built through generosity, shared experiences, and the people who show up year after year to make a difference. We are so grateful to everyone who helped make this annual tradition another incredible success. 💙

A couple weekend ago, Our House was invited to Label Mania Treeswing Studio in Ann Arbor Mothfire Brewing Co.

We are incredibly grateful to the organizers, volunteers, sponsors, and everyone who participated in Label Mania on June 28 for making this year’s event such a success.
Thank you for inviting Our House to be part of such a fun and community-centered event and for selecting us as a beneficiary of your generosity. The donations we received will directly support youth transitioning from foster care and other challenging circumstances by providing life skills programming, mentoring, housing support, and opportunities that help them build confidence and independence.

Community partnerships like this remind us that lasting change happens when people come together with a shared commitment to supporting young people. We are honored to be part of a community that believes in investing in the future of our youth.

Wellness Workshop Highlight 💙

This week, our youth participated in an engaging and interactive Wellness Workshop led by our community partner, LEAF, focused on safe drug use and harm reduction.

Together, we explored practical strategies for reducing harm, discussed safer practices, and assembled safe use kits while creating a space for open, honest conversation and learning.

At Our House, we believe that providing youth with accurate information, trusted resources, and compassionate support empowers them to make informed decisions and prioritize their health and well-being.

A heartfelt thank you to LEAF for sharing their expertise and partnering with us to make this impactful workshop possible. We are grateful for your commitment to meeting young people where they are with education, dignity, and care. 💙
