Plenty more donations! California Wonders, a variety of tomatoes (including Rutger), zucchinis, cucumbers, and kale! We've seen an incredible increase in peppers, this year especially, and less issues with deer, thanks to everyone's team work in providing individual barriers, and to Mike Wysocki who provided long lasting, but removable barriers around donation plots.

Throughout this pandemic, we have been so happy to provide donations to Swoops Food Pantry and keep this garden alive! With everyone's help, we can assure the future of the Giving Garden will continue to grow forward and help feed the community.

Feel free to share any recipes!

Giving Garden Donation plots are on their way to success! Janae White and Chrissy Wysocki planted cucumbers and pumpkins today (all thanks to Bradley Cross). Trying to keep the deer out as well. They're going to be mad. Deer love this garden!

The 2019 season saw plenty of vegetation growing in almost every plot. There were some additions to the garden such as a new hose reel to handle all the 300 feet of garden hose to run down the hill for water from the apartment building. The reel was built by Chrissy’s dad Michael Wysocki. There was also the purchase of a small picnic table and the acquiring of a number of used bricks to use for landscaping. The trees at either end of the garden are big enough to be trimmed up and sit under for shade. To aid in the never ending battle with the local deer we tested some simply built chicken wire enclosures which worked quite well. Trying to get it set up so all plots can have one.
Get your plot for the 2020 season, looking forward to another ‘ fruitful ‘ year.

EMU needs leaders who are willing and able to go the extra mile to accommodate student needs and implement creative, intersectional, and sustainable solutions to EMU issues. GREEN/The Giving Garden would like to announce our official endorsement for Ethan Smith and Hajer Abuzir for EMU Student Government President and Vice President for the 2019-2020 year. Hajer and Ethan have been working with GREEN/The Giving Garden to get insight on EMU sustainability issues, including social justice, environmentalism, and economics, and develop practical and cost-effective mitigation strategies to EMU issues. Hajer and Ethan have been tirelessly meeting with student groups across Eastern's campus and working to bring us all together, creating a shared vision of a New EMU. Their campaign is based on the assessment of needs directly from students, and GREEN/The Giving Garden is excited to continue to work with this duo to combat sustainability, food security, and social justice issues on campus! Don't forget to vote March 27-28 on your my.emich account!
