Ypsilanti Township, Meet Your New Cart! Curbside service residents will be receiving a new recycling cart thanks to an important relationship between Ypsilanti Township, Washtenaw County, EGLE and The Recycling Partnership, a nonprofit organization utilizing public-private partnerships to transform recycling all across America.

Ypsilanti Township was awarded grant support because of the longstanding dedication of Ypsilanti Township to advancing recycling in the community.

Recycling carts have many advantages over small recycling bins. They roll easily to the curb, they provide more capacity for recyclables, and they reduce litter by protecting your materials from the elements. This makes it easier for you to recycle more. And the more we recycle these valuable materials, instead of sending them to landfill, the more feedstock we provide to manufacturers to use in the creation of the products and packaging we buy and use every day. In all, everyone wins when recycling with carts.

Recycle cart delivery will take place between Monday, October 31, 2022 - Friday, November 11, 2022. Households who receive curbside collection will receive additional information via mail, including this FAQ.

Hello all,

As the weather warms up, so do incidents of petty theft from vehicles all across washtenaw county. The washtenaw county sheriff has asked that we post the following information to all of our residents to help combat this uptick in incidents. In addition to these tips, please ensure that your garage lights are functioning properly with all lights coming on a dusk and turning off at dawn.

From the sherrif:

Recently there has been a rash of Larcenies from Automobiles (LFA’s) in your area. LFA’s are crimes of opportunity and typically happen when vehicles are left unlocked. Doing the following can reduce your risk of being a victim:

Prevention Tips:
• Lock your vehicle doors- The best way to prevent LFA’s is to keep your vehicle doors locked at all times
• Do not leave items of value in your vehicle- Do not leave purses, wallets, electronics, personal documents, or anything else of value in your vehicle.
• DO NOT LEAVE FI****MS IN YOUR VEHICLE- Guns are a valuable item for criminals, if left in an unsecured vehicle they will be taken!!

How you can help:
• File a police report- Even if you don’t feel it is necessary to report an LFA please reconsider. Reported crimes and crime stats help us with investigations.
• Found Property- If you find property that does not belong to you in your yard or around your neighborhood please call the police. Allow us to come out and investigate.
• Security Camera Footage- If you have heard from neighbors or social media that there have been recent LFA’s in your neighborhood please review your security footage and report anything suspicious to the police at (734) 994-2911

Hello all,

On saturday, April 13, we will have the first official Whittaker Village spring clean up day. We will go along whittaker road and pick up debris which has accumulated over the winter months. We are looking for as many volunteers as possible to help beautify whittaker village. Trash bags will be provided.
