We hope everyone had a great time today at Airfest! We sure did!

It was truly a pleasure to teach compression-only CPR to more than 30 people of all ages and share how CERT benefits Franklin County. We always hope that at least one person walks away thinking about their own disaster preparedness or how they can help their neighbors and family, and we think we succeeded today. We also hope to see some of you at upcoming meetings with any of the three CERT teams in the county.

A special thank you to our incredible friends at Lake Royale CERT , BUNN CERT - Community Emergency Response Team Franklin County N C , and Franklin County NC Emergency Services- EMS, EM & FM Divisions for helping keep the event safe, organized, and educational. We couldn't have done it without your support and teamwork.

Taking care of yourself is not selfish. It’s part of being able to take care of others. 💙

We talk a lot about taking care of our equipment, our vehicles, our gear, and our certifications. But how often do we intentionally take care of ourselves?

For first responders, self-care is often misunderstood. It is not about bubble baths, spa days, or avoiding hard things. It is about maintaining the physical, mental, emotional, and social resources needed to continue doing a demanding job over the long term.

Self-care can look like:
🚑 Getting enough sleep between shifts
🚒 Staying connected to family, friends, and your crew
👮 Recognizing when stress is building before it becomes burnout
📞 Asking for help when you need it
🏃 Moving your body and taking care of your physical health
🧠 Making time to decompress after difficult calls

The reality is that you cannot continue pouring from an empty cup forever. Eventually, chronic stress, trauma exposure, sleep disruption, and emotional exhaustion catch up with all of us.

Taking care of yourself is not selfish. It is part of being able to take care of others.

You matter.
Your health matters.
Your wellbeing matters.

As we celebrate National EMS Week, we'd like to extend our deepest gratitude and appreciation to the incredible EMS professionals who serve our community each and every day.

Your dedication, compassion, professionalism, and willingness to answer the call at all hours do not go unnoticed. Whether responding during emergencies, supporting community events, or standing alongside partner agencies during times of crisis, you continually demonstrate what service above self truly means.

We are especially thankful for your partnership and collaboration with our CERT team. Your guidance, teamwork, and shared commitment to preparedness and public safety help strengthen our entire community. We are proud to volunteer alongside such skilled and selfless professionals.

Had an amazing time at Youngsville Family Fun Day! 🎉

A huge thank you to the Town of Youngsville, first responders, volunteers, and everyone who came out to support the community. We loved meeting so many wonderful people and sharing information about CERT, emergency preparedness, and CPR.
