⚙️ Machining is where precision meets power, and this summer, students can get hands-on experience with these skills.

Mahoning County Career and Technical Center and Valley STEM + ME2 Academy and MVMC are hosting a FREE Machining Camp July 20–23 for students entering grades 8–11.

Campers will learn the fundamentals of machining, water jet cutting, CNC lathes and CNC mills while working alongside MCCTC instructors and local manufacturing pros.

Breakfast, lunch and a camp T-shirt are included.

🤩 We still haven't shaken off all the excitement from last week's Mahoning Valley Scrappers Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Night.

Organizers estimate that over 2,700 people attended, and we were so happy to see so many students and families engaged with our manufacturers and partners. The interactive demonstrations and hands-on activities were a hit.

The success couldn't come without the help of the participants and teams of people that make it all happen. Thank you! We already can't wait for next year. ⚾

⚛️ It was a night that forged a lasting impression on the next generation of makers, problem-solvers and future modern manufacturing talent.

📏 We cannot even begin to measure the amount of fun (or size of the crowd!🤩) at the third annual Mahoning Valley Scrappers Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Night at Seven Seventeen Credit Union Field at Eastwood.

Our members and partners showed up BIG for students and their families - with plenty of creative, STEM-related hands-on activities. They also got to engage with potential job seekers about opportunities available.

It's never too early (or too late!) for career exploration, and sparking interest in what our local employers have to offer. 💫

⚾ Thanks to Finn E., who threw out the first pitch to kick-off the game. He represented Lakeview Middle School in western PA for the "What's So Cool About Manufacturing" video contest and also competed at the state level.

We're grateful for everyone who helped make this such a successful, memorable event...AND the Scrappers pulled off a win against the Spikes! 👏

A big congratulations to MVMC Executive Director Alex Hertzer, who is a graduate of the Leadership Mahoning Valley Class of 2026. 👏

Our team celebrated with Alex at The Grand Resort in Warren - as he and 40 other participants were acknowledged for completing the nine-month leadership development program.

The class explored key Mahoning Valley organizations, businesses and community issues, and supported local nonprofits through monthly giving projects. Members also raised more than $3,300 for a Pay It Forward Scholarship to help future participants access the program.

Leadership Mahoning Valley has more than 1,400 alumni over its 41-year history, and 53 alumni representing 24 classes attended the graduation.

We're invested in bringing manufacturing careers to life for area students, and a new $250,000 grant will allow us to continue fighting for a stronger workforce.

Thanks to the state of Ohio and its work to connect young people with real opportunities - not someday - but NOW.

This funding helps support efforts like our MFG Ready program at Warren G. Harding High School - where 10 students have been placed in manufacturing internships ahead of their senior year.

MVMC is among 22 workforce partnerships that received a portion of the state's more than $5 million grant.

Ellwood passes on another $20,000 Industrial Maintenance Scholarship to a Shenango senior - who will continue his education in electrical technology.

Careers like industrial maintenance and technicians are some of the most in-demand jobs, and we're happy to see our members contributing to the future of our industry. Congratulations! 🎉

The company offers tool and die and other precision machining capabilities. Such a wonderful thing to see one of our members growing in capacity - and ready to help lead the industry forward in our region.
