A 70-year-old woman from Texas has invested $150,000 of her retirement savings to create a charming tiny-home village specifically tailored for older women in search of affordable, community-oriented living.

Named “The Bird’s Nest” and located in Cumby, the project features compact homes available for rent at approximately $450 per month. It provides a much-needed alternative for women in their 60s, 70s, and 80s who wish to preserve their independence while avoiding the loneliness that often accompanies aging. Residents live in close proximity, sharing meals, assisting one another with daily errands, and offering mutual support in everyday life.

Actor and comedian Marlon Wayans has spoken many times about why he never got married. He says the main reason is his deep love for his mother. He did not want any woman to come between him and his mom or make her feel less important in his life.

In an interview with the New York Times, Marlon explained that he always wanted his mother, Elvira Alethia Wayans, to be his number one person. He felt she should never feel jealous or second to anyone. His mother sadly passed away in July 2020 at the age of 82. Her death deeply affected him and left him heartbroken.

He shared emotional words he told her on her deathbed: “I never got married because I always wanted you to be my No. 1 girl.” He said she meant everything to him.

In 2021, he also told Essence magazine that he stayed unmarried because his mother needed him in her life. Even though he never married, he was in a long relationship with Angela Zackery from 1992 to 2013, and they have children together.

We had such an amazing time at the RAM Clinic this weekend!

The need for access to healthcare, dental care, and other resources has never been greater, and we're honored to have a table alongside these incredible initiatives👏

Antoinette, our Site Coordinator in Ashtabula, gave away information on our free public classes, and some candy, too🥰

A huge thank you again to the Ashtabula Foundation for funding our work up north, the Remote Area Medical clinic, and the Ashtabula County Health Department for having us!
