Tristan (Shane) Gear and Nikki Gear of McCleary Recovery. We founded McCleary Recovery in 2024, for the honor of Cole McCleary who had passed away years prior. Cole was in recovery and had a dream of helping others, which is why we do what we do now, in honor of Tristan’s best friend, brother, and more.

At McCleary Recovery we believe in meeting people where they’re at, which is why we have partnered, and continue to partner with a multitude of facilities that offer different services, levels of care, and other resources since not everyone is in a “one size fits all” state of mind.

Can’t believe it was a year ago my wife and I were flown out to Phoenix, AZ to speak to a pharmaceutical legal team about the negative impact there is out there with big brand names, but the good that we do have out there with harm reduction.

I can’t wait for us to do so much more and hopefully change the mentality of some individuals for the better.

There’s a version of addiction people don’t talk about enough.

It’s not always someone “out of control.”
It’s people showing up to work. Taking care of their kids. Smiling in conversations. Answering texts. And still using. That’s what’s out here right now.

Substance use doesn’t always look like rock bottom anymore, sometimes it blends in. It hides in routine. It survives in silence. And that’s why it’s hitting harder than people realize.

What I’m seeing more than anything lately isn’t just use, but it’s isolation. People convincing themselves they’re “fine” because nothing has fully fallen apart yet. But inside, they’re tired. Mentally drained. Numb. Fighting something they’re not talking about.

That space where someone looks okay but isn’t, is where the real risk is. Because nobody checks on you when you “seem fine.”

If that’s you, or someone you know, just know this: you don’t have to wait until things get worse to reach out.

And if you’re reading this and you are doing okay, reach out to someone anyway. You’d be surprised who’s been quietly struggling.

What do you think is harder for people right now… being honest about using, or asking for help?

Let’s talk about it.

Isolation will mess with your head.

You start thinking nobody gets it, nobody cares, so you just keep everything in.

That’s usually when things get worse.

You don’t have to say everything.
Just don’t sit in it alone.

Reach out to us if you need a helping hand.

Recovery isn’t some perfect, clean path. Some days are solid, some days feel like you’re back at square one. What matters is you keep showing up anyway.

If you’re still trying, still thinking about doing better, and still here… that counts for something.

We see you.

How we do it as McCleary Recovery đź’ś

Putting real tools in people’s hands… Narcan, fentanyl test strips, info, and just having conversations that matter. This is what it’s about for us.

If you ever stopped at our events, I appreciate you. If you didn’t, what’s something you think more people need to know about harm reduction right now?

Thrive For Change joined us for the Canton Civic Center Wellness & Vendor event!

This is what we mean when we say real support.

Getting resources into people’s hands, having conversations, showing up where it matters.

Not everyone walks into treatment ready because some people just need someone to point them in the right direction first.

That’s where people and places like us come in to help.

If you or someone you know needs help, reach out.

Go give some love to our friends over at Thrive For Change. Without them, we wouldn’t be able to provide most of the stuff we do!

Most people don’t talk about how hard some mornings actually are. Just getting up, getting moving, trying again. But there’s still something to be grateful for, even if it’s small.

What’s one thing you’re grateful for today?
