✨ Feeling grateful and inspired after attending a Women's Retreat focused on empowerment, sisterhood, and renewal on September 26, 2026, in Portsmouth. Surrounded by an amazing group of women, I left encouraged, refreshed, and reminded of the power of supporting one another. Thankful for the connections, conversations, and inspiration shared throughout the day. 💕

Chapter 13 is on the move!

We continue to build momentum with our monthly meetings, and this month we were proud to welcome more than 30 members and supporters in attendance.

A special thank you to James Smith Jr., First Junior Vice for the Department of Virginia, for joining us and sharing his insights. We appreciate his support and commitment to our mission as we work together to serve veterans and strengthen our community.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to another successful meeting. We look forward to seeing even more faces at our next gathering!

VAVS stands for VA Voluntary Service — the long‑standing volunteer program within the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
What VAVS Means
VAVS (VA Voluntary Service) is the official volunteer program of the Department of Veterans Affairs, created in 1946 to coordinate community and organizational volunteer support for veterans receiving care in VA facilities.

It is one of the largest volunteer programs in the federal government, involving more than 350 national and community organizations.

What VAVS Does
- Volunteer coordination — organizes volunteers in VA hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and outreach centers.
- Support to VA staff — supplements patient care with companionship, assistance, and specialized skills.
- Community engagement — connects civic groups, veteran service organizations, and individuals to VA facilities.
- Donation management — oversees gifts, goods, and services donated to support veterans.

Modern Name Change
VAVS is now officially part of the Center for Development and Civic Engagement (CDCE), but the acronym VAVS is still widely used by DAV, AMVETS, VFW, and
We donated over 2500 worth of good and services and 1000 dollars cash.
