Moore House members and friends participated in Wreaths Across America today at the Yorktown National Cemetery. Virginia State Veteran’s Chairman of Virginia Children of the American Revolution (C.A.R.) Brendan G. led the group in Remembering, Honoring and Teaching about the lives of the veterans laid to rest there. The National Society of the Children of the American Revolution

Moore House had a great member turnout Sunday for the Christmas Market fundraiser. We missed our Littles, but know how tough it is for them to be out in that super cold weather.

Huzzah to you all who showed up: great teamwork on the apple candles and apple greenery; you took in $185 in those donations. You did a great job educating the kids and adults who came by about Colonial decorations, state in national projects and C.A.R.

Great job also helping Doc Brick and his elf Brendan who rolled out a new Colonial lantern ornament this year. Proceeds he donated from his sales Sunday netted us $317.

In total we raised $502 for the state and national projects. Great job! We will as usual split it down the middle and send half to each.

A special thank you goes out to the ladies at Comte De Grasse for their help Sunday, and to all the parents who help keep this wonderful group and organization going.

Moore House members had an awesome time at Yorktown Day 2025. Despite the parade cancel and a few changes to event locations there was still loads of fun to enjoy. The day started with Moore House members Savannah C. (Society Historian) and her brother Samuel enjoying snacks at the Comte de Grasse coffee gathering in the Custom House garden. They visited with DAR and SAR members and Virginia State President Meredith Hopkins along with their mother Virginia Honorary State President Hannah Cramer.

Moore House Society President Meagan J. and her sister and Society Vice President Lauren represented the society well at the Governor Nelson memorial. They were joined by fellow society member and Virginia State Veterans Chairman Brendan G. and prospective  member William O. They all then visited with other societies and State and National officers.

Brendan topped off the day when he joined fellow Fifes and Drums of Yorktown musicians to perform a patriotic private performance at the corps headquarters, and then they made their own parade 🙂 playing tunes on Main Street.

It was a glorious Fall day celebrating our ancestors and other patriots who gave so much to form our amazing nation. Huzzah!

Fun times this weekend with Moore House and Virginia Children of the American Revolution (C.A.R.) members at the State President’s workshop learning about the state project to benefit Montpelier. We visited the Madison Museum in Orange and Montpelier itself learning about the genius of the U.S. Constitution.

Wonderful Installation of our new officers and getting to know our new State President Meredith Hopkins earlier this month. We look forward to a great year with her and our national president supporting both their programs and learning history and honoring our ancestor veterans along with present day veterans.
