Happy Birthday U.S. Coast Guard!! This is your day shipmates. A day to celebrate your mission accomplishments, past and present. Enjoy the day, think about the daring missions and bravery of our shipmates over the past 233 years to save, aid, and help others when they experienced their worst day. Let us also share a special thank you to our shipmate families who waited patiently as you were out underway, standing watch, and helping others. Their commitment and love enables us to focus on the difficult tasks of the day, ensures our preparedness to respond to that call to help others, and safeguard our Country. Our members carry on these historic missions, so take care of each other and have a great day family. Semper Paratus!

Chapter President, VP, and Secretary welcomed CW5 Russell Houser, U. S. Army, to Training Center Yorktown for lunch and a great conversation. A great discussion was had about our combined challenges, Warrant Officer professional development, and strengthening our Warrant cohort. Special thank you to CW5 Houser for taking the time to visit and providing a Warrant perspective outside our CG community.

Happy Independence Day!

06/19/2023

Today we celebrate Juneteenth, also known as Emancipation or Freedom Day. Part of our celebration is highlighting those who fought for freedom, such as James Robinson. Robinson was an enslaved African American who fought in the Battle of Yorktown and the War of 1812. During both times of service, he was denied the freedom he was promised, even after being awarded military honors. It was not until 1840 where he is found listed in the census as a free man. He lived until the age 115 and was able to witness one of his two sons go and fight for the Union Army.
