As the Rotary year comes to a close, the members of the Rotary Club of York-North extend our sincere gratitude to President Beth for her outstanding leadership, dedication, and unwavering commitment to Service Above Self.

Beth began the year with a vision and a plan, but like any successful leader, she also demonstrated the flexibility and wisdom to adapt when circumstances changed. Her positive attitude, steady guidance, and ability to bring people together helped make this a year of growth, service, and fellowship.

Under Beth's leadership, York-North welcomed new members, expanded community service efforts, supported youth development programs, strengthened Rotary Foundation giving, and continued many of the traditions that make our club special. From serving meals and reading to children, to highway cleanups, student recognition, and countless acts of service throughout York County, Beth encouraged members to roll up their sleeves and make a difference.

Perhaps most importantly, Beth fostered a spirit of camaraderie that reminded us why Rotary matters. She celebrated the strengths of our long-time members while embracing fresh ideas and new perspectives. Her enthusiasm, humor, and genuine care for others created a welcoming environment where members felt valued and inspired to serve.

As Beth transitions into the role of Past President, we thank her for a remarkable year of leadership. Her dedication has left a lasting impact on our club, our community, and the many lives touched by York-North Rotary.

On behalf of the entire club, thank you, Beth, for your service, your friendship, and your leadership. We are grateful for all you have done and look forward to building upon the strong foundation you have helped create.

Well done, President Beth! Rotary Club of York-North is stronger because of your leadership. 🙏⚙💙

Members of the Rotary Club of York-North recently welcomed Dr. Michael Lowe from York Academy Regional Charter School for an informative presentation highlighting the school's mission, educational philosophy, and commitment to student success.

York Academy, a tuition-free public charter school serving students in grades K-12, is celebrating its 15th year of providing a student-centered learning environment that emphasizes academic excellence, diversity, and global citizenship. The school's mission is to challenge students in diverse learning environments while opening doors for growth, opportunity, and lifelong success.

A key focus of the presentation was the school's implementation of the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. The IB framework is used in schools around the world and emphasizes how students learn, encouraging critical thinking, communication skills, independence, and global awareness.

Presenters explained that the IB approach helps students move beyond memorization by teaching them how to think, research, analyze, and solve problems. Families value the program because it builds confidence, encourages independence, and develops skills that extend well beyond the classroom.

York Academy students benefit from a curriculum designed to prepare them for college-level work while fostering strong writing, research, and analytical skills. The school also promotes global awareness through language learning, with students studying Spanish from kindergarten through graduation.

Rotarians were impressed by the school's dedication to developing well-rounded students who are prepared not only for academic success but also for meaningful participation in an increasingly interconnected world.

York-North Rotary thanks the York Academy team for sharing their educational vision and for the important role they play in preparing the next generation of leaders in our community. Programs such as these align closely with Rotary's commitment to supporting education, youth development, and lifelong learning.

The Rotary Club of York-North was honored on June 4, 2026, when the York County Board of Commissioners presented a formal proclamation recognizing the club's leadership and participation in the York County Liberty Tree Project.

The proclamation celebrated the collaborative effort of York County's eight Rotary clubs, working alongside community partners, to plant Liberty Trees throughout the county as part of the America250PA initiative and York County's "History Made Here" celebration. The project commemorates several historic milestones, including York County's 275th anniversary, America's 250th birthday in 2026, and the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Articles of Confederation in York in 2027.

York-North Rotary played a significant role in the initiative by coordinating the planting of nine Liberty Trees within its service area. Communities benefiting from the project included Carroll Township, Dillsburg Borough, Fairview Township, Franklintown Borough, Franklin Township, Monaghan Township, Warrington Township, Washington Township, and Wellsville Borough.

The proclamation noted that the Liberty Tree movement in York County was inspired by the dedication of a young Liberty Tree at the York County Colonial Courthouse in 2024. Since then, Rotary clubs across the county embraced the vision of planting a Liberty Tree in each of York County's 72 municipalities.

The York County Commissioners specifically thanked the members of all eight Rotary clubs for their dedication, generosity, and commitment to improving their communities. The recognition serves as a testament to Rotary's enduring motto of "Service Above Self" and demonstrates the impact that can be achieved when clubs work together toward a common goal.

York-North Rotary is proud to have been part of this historic countywide effort. These Liberty Trees will stand for generations as living symbols of freedom, civic pride, and community service while helping tell York County's remarkable story during America's Semi quincentennial celebration.
