The Northeast Neighborhood Association (NENA) We operated a food pantry located in the Pine Street Center at the corner of E. Philadelphia St. and N. Pine St.

The History of the Northeast Neighborhood Association (NENA)

NENA was established as a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization in 1996. In 2005. The local United Methodist Church Conference dissolved the charter of Christ's Hope Community Church and gifted us their building at 216 Chestnut St, York, PA 17405. This building has operated as NENA's home to the present. Chrystal Sexton-McEachin, our Direct

or of Community Services, began her association with NENA prior to 1996 as a volunteer and started as a paid employee in 1998. Chrystal is a lifelong resident of York City and a 20-year resident of the neighborhood. She is the matriarch of our neighborhood. The Northeast Neighborhood Association (NENA) provides emergency food, clothing, and household items. Every Monday from 10am-1pm and every Wednesday from 10am-1pm, anyone who is in need of these items can come to NENA and support will be provided. Although appointments are not necessary, visitors are required to bring photo ID for themselves and names and birthdates for all household members. Because NENA receives food through state and federal food programs, food items are permitted once a month.

* Reminder * Our pantry will be closed tomorrow in observance of ⭐ Memorial Day 🎖️ We will also be closed Wednesday in order to finish painting and other essential housekeeping.

There are 2 other pantries open to the public this week 3 blocks from us:

Feeding The Need at York City Campus/Stillmeadow Church of the Nazarene is open Thursday 1p - 3p (bring I.D. And bags).

And Caring Ministry, while they are appointment only, you can get an emergency bag with snacks this week from Tuesday through Thursday 9:30am - 2 pm. They are located in the Market street building on First Presbyterian Church of York property.

Yesterday we had a great 1st Men's Health Event!! Jamiel L. Alexander engaged us with an interactive conversation on the 5 pillars of Community Centered Healing. The WellSpan Health physician and therapist gave us great insight on mental and physical health, while Geisinger gave blood pressure readings. City leaders broke bread with community. Thank you all for your participation in community progress!!

WE'RE 2 DAYS AWAY from our first MEN'S HEALTH EVENT!!! THIS Saturday, May 16th, 1pm - 4pm at York City Campus/Stillmeadow Church of the Nazarene 350 Chestnut St.

We're talking heart health 🫀 mental health, important screenings, 💪🏾treatments 🫁🦵🏽 and asking questions to the doctors and health providers.

Let's bust all the myths around blood pressure, exams, insurance, therapy, and everything in between. Have a meal and be heard, or just hang around and listen! This is a FREE event and ALL are welcome. Bring your friends, SONS and even your wives and supportive partners!

Dr. Berry, Dr. Roberts, and Ronald Sexton LCSW, CAADC from WellSpan Health are bringing physical and mental health discussion.

NENA's Dr. Ron Benenson (Ret.), will moderate, while Jamiel L. Alexander will Keynote speak on community healing!
