There is a place for you here! We at Union Lutheran Church believe that we are called to share Jesus’ love with our ever-changing, diverse community, as we grow together in Christ. We welcome everyone seeking God’s love and grace to participate fully no matter what you look like, where you’re from, whom you love, how much money you have, or whatever other labels we use to divide ourselves. We welcome all gender identities, gender expressions, sexual orientations, ages, races, abilities, and socio-economic statuses, because God welcomes all, and our unity is in Jesus Christ. Worship Schedule:
Sunday Morning, 9:30 a.m. In-person and Live-stream through Facebook and our website www.unionlutheran.org

We are a congregation who loves God and strives to share that love with our neighbors. We do this through Worship, Faith Formation, Service, Fellowship, and/or other forms of ministry and community involvement, we strive to be a church in the neighborhood, and of the neighborhood. We celebrate the gifts that God has given all people, and we know that together we are stronger. We invite you to join us in our worship and ministry here at Union, so that we can use all of our gifts to love and serve God and our community. We strive to live into God's purpose for us, by working to follow eight guiding principals. By God’s grace we…
• follow Jesus Christ.

• are rooted in prayer in our life together.

• seek a better understanding of God's will for us through reflecting, discussing, and acting on God’s Word.

• keep worship at the center of all that we do.

• love and care for our neighbors following the example of our Lord Jesus Christ.

• are faithful stewards of what God has placed in our hands.

• grow in relationship with God, each other, and our community.

• invite our community to worship, partnership, and to grow with us.

Presiding Bishop Yehiel Curry of our Evangelical Lutheran Church in America issued a statement on the Death Penalty.

“Dear church,

My heart was troubled by the recent proposal to livestream an ex*****on in the United States. I am thankful that this plan has now been cancelled. The deliberate taking of a human life should never become a public spectacle. Such actions risk deepening the wounds of victims’ families, loved ones and communities while further desensitizing us to violence. Our society is diminished when violence is conflated with entertainment. Because of our ministry of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:16-21), this church opposes the death penalty and the recent plans for public display of the ex*****on of Nidal Hasan….”

Last night, we kicked off the first session of Union Lutheran and St. Matthew Lutheran Church combined Bible study course “The Catechumenate: Living Out Our Baptism!” Pastor Keith Fair led participants through a discussion on how Lutherans approach the Bible and had this to say:

“As Lutherans, we encounter the Word of God first and foremost in the living Christ! We also encounter the Word as it is spoken in our traditions about Jesus, faith, and church, as well as the written Word of holy scripture.”

Join us next Wednesday at St. Matthew (839 W. Market St.) at 7:00 p.m. as Pastor Joel continues the discussion.

Today is Indigenous Peoples' Day!

"Give thanks for Indigenous communities that have lived in the Americas and other parts of the world for thousands of years. Pray that we will not overlook them in our telling of history and that we will honor our church’s commitment to repentance, reconciliation, healing, respect and unity as children of God." —Prayer Ventures

Welcome to Sunday worship here at Union Lutheran Church. There is a place for you at Union! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤💔❤️‍🩹

Today's Theme: In Isaiah we are given a vision of the great feast to come, when God will wipe away death forever. In Jesus’ parable about a great banquet, those invited do not come, so the invitation is extended to others. In our liturgy God spreads a table before us. Even amid anxiety and hardship we rejoice in the peace of God which surpasses all understanding. With great joy we feast at the table of the Lord, and we go forth to share the wonderful invitation with others hungering and thirsting for the abundant life of God.
