York Twinning Association The YTA is an organization that supports educational and cultural exchanges with the cities of Arles,

The York Twinning Association is an independent organization dedicated to international friendship. The association was founded in 1954 when the cities of York and Arles, France, were joined in a formal sister-city program. The twinning was the second in the wold and the first involving an American city. Today York-Arles is the worldโ€™s oldest continuous sister-city program. Since so many Pennsylvanians have their roots in German, members of the Twinning Association worked to establish a twinning with a German town. Through help of Sister Cities International, a twinning was formed with Leinfelden-Echterdingen, a town about the size of York near Stuttgart in southwestern Germany. The first exchange, by a group from York who went to L/E, happened in 1984. From this exchange an every 4 year group visitation plan was established and now a lively relationship flourishes. The York Twinning Association has also established a yearly student
exchange program from local high schools with Arles and Leinfelden-Echterdingen. Funds raised by the association are used for student scholarships and other exchange activities. We are always looking to establish new Twinnings throughout the world and will continue to foster new friendships internationally. The organization is supported solely by membership dues and fundraising activities. York Twinning - Jumelage d'Arles student exchange

๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท Happy Bastille Day! ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Today, we join our friends in France in celebrating Bastille Day, France's national holiday commemorating the storming of the Bastille on July 14, 1789โ€”a pivotal moment that marked the beginning of the French Revolution and the enduring ideals of liberty, equality, and fraternity.

As a proud U.S. sister city of Arles, we're grateful for the friendships and cultural connections we share with our sister city in France. Wishing our French friends a wonderful Bastille Day filled with celebration and community. Vive l'amitiรฉ! ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ทโค๏ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ
