We are grateful that York voters have rejected the short-term rental ordinance, and we look forward to working with York citizens, property owners, neighbors and the Town of York to study this issue further. We believe that together, we can take an informed approach and develop solutions that work for everyone. In the meantime, we hope that all STR owners will work hard to ensure their neighbors are respected while continuing to maintain a strong track record of guests having a safe/positive experience.

We urge York citizens to Vote No on 64. The town can then form a committee of diverse stakeholders to further study this topic and work together to develop practical solutions.

Vote No 64 is a group of York natives and year round residents who receive funding from York property owners. There is ZERO corporate funding/influence.

A few people have asked "who is No on 64". We are a working group of York natives and year round residents who believe this ordinance is bad for York for a multitude of reasons. We are funded by York property owners and have received NO corporate money. We believe in the safety of guests and York STRs have a strong track record of keeping guests safe over the past 100+ years. This ordinance goes well beyond safety and is bad for all York citizens.

We believe York voters should reject the ordinance and then form a committee of diverse stakeholders to develop an informed approach, as recommended by York's comprehensive plan. The town was supposed to conduct a study to understand the impact of short term rentals and use that to inform policies -- that study was skipped and we believe that should be done first. Then the committee could work collaboratively to find solutions that address everyone's needs including neighbors, STR owners, business owners, town staff and tax payers. York plans to waste YOUR tax dollars - including $90,000 annually ($1 million over 10 years!!) to hire a global company despite 100+ years of self regulating STRs with very isolated problems.

York Police, Fire and town staff resources will unnecessarily be wasted by a weaponized ordinance. The town's own data shows only 1-2 complaints ANNUALLY for existing trash, noise and parking ordinances. With 700 STRs in town there have historically been few problems. The proposed ordinance has a poorly designed and vague enforcement section where one neighbor can shut down another neighbor's STR.

Short term rentals have been a part of York's heritage for generations with very few problems. These rentals play an important part of our local economy. The selectboard never conducted a study to understand the negative impact of this ordinance.

The selectboard shared their "statement of fact" regarding the short term rental ordinance. Voters should do their research to understand the facts. This ordinance was rushed, not created based on data and will hurt York taxpayers.

The Selectboard rushed this ordinance, skipped doing a study (as recommended in the 2022 comprehensive plan), ignored dozens of questions from citizens, and ultimately created an ordinance that will be bad for the taxpayers of York.
