Serve 17 counties
Increase in Domestic violence
Sexual abuse is frequently seen.
Start with reporting, there's a referral base service, forensic interviews are done.
Advocates help connect families with other agencies.
Provide court school, attend sentencing.
They have medical examiners, 2 of the best in state.
Funding is thru
1) Events
2) Federal $$ - which at this time is very questionable
3) Community support-
Amazing organization to donate to!
They also take donations of

Spoke of budget challenges- 1/2 way through budget year.
Emergency Manager just retired so in search of a new one.
Call Center down 3 staff
Sheriff dept down 2 staff
County growth was 2% & City growth at about 4.4%
He also discussed going to the Capitol to voice rural interests & how laws can adversely affect us.
Solar Farm in McCool back on to move forward.

talked about the increase in social media w/ 30,000 visits monthly. There is now a community app. Visitor Guide that is printed 2 times a year. Just Melanie & YNT & the radio station are other avenues used in promoting York County.
She informed us of upcoming events.
She is always looking for creative ways to promote York County & the fun, interesting events we have to offer!

She recently was honored with 1st place blog, The World According To Rikki
Also recognized as a top website by NFPW National Federation of Press Women.
She started Just Melanie in July 2023 & it's always free to readers. It is advertiser paid. Eric Ekert developed the website.
She has other talented writers that contribute. Steve Mosely, Greg Autry, Crystal Houston, Marcia Kay Lang Schlegelmilch, & York University.
Wed are "Dirty Pages" which are recipes & Questions of the Week is also a popular piece.

Dr. Jared Pack from York University, is also on the Board for York County Historical Association.
Reorganization of the Board will be more open to the community vs just research.
Partnering with Anna Bemis Palmer museum & the plan is to collectively do more, to tell stories of York County.
And there's is a new building renovated by Clay & Becky Stodieck, to house & preserve items for a long duration.
