40 years ago, a small group of people recognized just how special the lands and waters of York are—and saw the need to protect them as the community changed. They took action, coming together to found York Land Trust and create a legacy of conservation that continues to this day.

Today, we’re celebrating the people, partnerships, volunteers, members, and supporters who have carried that legacy forward.
From the first parcels protected in 1986 to the 4,000 acres conserved today—and the 100 nature-based programs we offer each year—this work has always been, and will always be, a community effort.

On behalf of every cottontail, great blue heron, painted turtle, salamander, and neighbor who enjoys and loves our preserves: thank you.

Cheers to 40 years behind us, and to all that we can accomplish together in the years ahead!
