We had the pleasure of welcoming Alex Pilkington, CEO, and Meredith Sossman, Development Director, from the IM ABLE Foundation to Shadowfax Day Supports! 💙

IM ABLE works incredibly to remove barriers to physical activity for individuals with disabilities through adaptive equipment, programs, resources, and opportunities to get moving and stay connected. That made this an especially exciting visit for us because so much of what we talked about came back to a shared question: How do we keep finding new and better ways to support the whole person?

During their tour, we shared more about what’s happening at Shadowfax, where we’re headed, and the impact we want to continue making in our community. We talked about Day Supports, community engagement, future programming, and what it looks like to keep creating opportunities that support health, confidence, independence, connection, choice, and belonging.

These are the kinds of conversations we love. When organizations that care deeply about inclusion get in the same room, we get to learn from one another, and think bigger about what may be possible for the individuals we support.

Joining the conversation from Shadowfax were Amy Brillinger, Chief Executive Officer; Chawna Griffith-Myers, Director of Development & Community Engagement; Allison Strathmeyer, Executive Director of Day Supports; and Dami Odubunmi, Senior Associate Director of Day Supports.

A big thank you to Alex and Meredith for spending time with us, asking great questions, sharing ideas, and getting to know Shadowfax a little better. Connections like this help all of us stay creative, stay connected, and keep pushing toward communities where people of all abilities have opportunities to participate, grow, and thrive.

🎃 200 pumpkins later, what an incredible day at Fall Fest! 🍂

Shadowfax was so excited to be part of York City Fall Fest, where families stopped by our table to enjoy pumpkin decorating, coloring fun, and a little extra fall magic along the way. From creative pumpkin faces to our custom Shadowfax coloring sheet, it was such a joy connecting with so many children and families in the community.

A very special thank you to Flinchbaugh's Orchard & Farm Market and Smyser's Farm for their generous pumpkin donations. Because of your support, we were able to help make this activity extra special for so many families. 🧡

Thank you as well to the York City Police Department (York, Pa) and the fabulous Miss Joan Henney for hosting this wonderful event and for your continued partnership. We are grateful for opportunities like this to come together, celebrate community, and create inclusive, family-friendly fun for all.

And a special shoutout to our FABULOUS Fall Fest Crew AKA Employee Engagement Committee members for showing up, jumping in, and helping us create such a welcoming and fun experience for our community! 🧡🎃💙

September may be over, but the appreciation definitely isn’t. 💙💛

All month long, we celebrated the incredible Direct Support Professionals who are at the heart of Shadowfax. From sweet treats and special surprises to food trucks, recognition, giveaways, and moments of appreciation, September gave us the chance to pause and say something we can never say enough: thank you.

Our DSPs show up every day with patience, compassion, creativity, and commitment. They support individuals in building skills, making choices, strengthening relationships, exploring their communities, and living meaningful lives.

The celebrations may have filled September, but the impact of our DSPs is felt every single day of the year.

To every Shadowfax DSP: thank you for the energy, care, and heart you bring to this work. We appreciate you, we value you, and we are grateful for all that you do. 💙

We were excited to welcome City of York Mayor Sandie Walker to Shadowfax Day Supports for a tour and meaningful conversation about the work happening across our organization.

During the visit, we highlighted several areas of focus, including the continued development of Day Supports, our Residential Services, Employment Services, and our growing emphasis on community engagement and advocacy.

We also discussed the importance of creating more opportunities to inform and educate families, strengthen connections throughout York City, and help ensure that the individuals we support are visible, included, and engaged in the communities where they live.

Joining Mayor Walker for the visit were Amy Brillinger, Shadowfax CEO, Allison Strathmeyer, Executive Director of Day Supports, Chawna Griffith-Myers, Director of Development & Community Engagement, and Dami Odubunmi, Senior Associate Director of Day Supports.

Visits like this are an important part of building relationships, increasing awareness, and creating stronger pathways for collaboration. We appreciate Mayor Walker taking the time to learn more about Shadowfax, the individuals we support, and the work our team continues to do throughout York County. 💙💛
